Back in December, we bought my wife's Explorer private party. The tags and smog were good thru November 2012 so wife decided on holding off on putting the vehicle in her (something I'm not happy about). Now it's up for sake and we have a potential buyer but the title is still in the previous owners name. How do we go about this sale? I'm under the impression that the vehicle has to be registered under our name to sell it...

As long as the title is signed it doesnt matter who's name is on it.

I've sold a bunch of cars under the exact same circumstances that were NOT in my name.
