So about a year ago I moved to AZ and registerd my stang out there and I just moved back home to Hayward about a month ago and I need to register the car back in Cali and I have a couple questions..I read that a dmv official has to check the car and wanted to know what they check for smog equipment(cats) or just saftey(lights and horns)? also I have a Arizona DL and wanted to know if I'll have to retake the test again to get a Cali Dl? I couldnt find the info on the dmv website so I figured I'd ask before I went in on Monday.Any info is appriciated. Thanks guys

when my cousin gave me his S10 it came from hawaii and they just looked for the Ca emissions sticker and he just kinda looked at the motor ,verified the vin and that was it, I did show up with my Ca smog already done So I'm assuming he just figured everything was okay already.

My GS-R had to be checked out by a DMV official before they gave me my plates/reg, they checked for vin numbers on the doors, dash, and under the hood. So be prepared to pop your hood. I also had my smog paperwork and a brake/lamp inspection certificate with me. But you didn't just buy your car fresh off its first salvage title. But I assume it will be the same type of DMV inspection.

yea the car is clean title...so do i need to have a brake/lamp certification? or is that only if the car is salvage? only body parts that has been changed on the car is the driver fender(previous owner painted it black so i just bought a matching one and replaced it) and it has a cobra bumper.

actually the sticker on mine was on the radiator support. Just call up ford or hit ebay for the sticker. he didnt even notice the CAI on the truck. when he popped the hood I Automatically said "oohh this is the sticker your probably looking for" and he said"yep".
I've even helped my buddy out who got a contour from out of state(he inherited it) and the emissions label didnt say anything about CA so we went to pick in pull and called the ford dealer and gave them the VIN off of a car at pickNpull and said we needed a new sticker off the car. then rolled over to ford and picked the sticker up. they wouldnt sell him the sticker without a VIN.
Like I said I had already smogged it as well , so he probably figured it was legit.

I very highly doubt you will need a break/lamp done.
