Fuck Desert Valley Auto Parts.

Don't ever buy shit from them.

Here is my note to them:

Dear Desert Valley Auto Parts,
Thank you for making sure to play part in the failure of my attempt to finally, after years of hard work, money and time, paint my beloved 1966 charger.

This car, to me, is more than just an old car, old mopar and NOTHING I am restoring to make money on. This car is a labor of love and finishing it is a personal hurtle. My entire family from my 5 year old son to my elderly father are assisting in this restoration. I find (sat on the hood of my dads 66 charger at age 3 to hand him wrenches) that most folks into these 1966, 1967 dodge chargers feel that the cars are more than just a car....they are almost a part of their family. I should know. My dad had atleast 20 of these cars while I was growing up.

Needless to say my gas filler door and hinge has not arrived. I am just writing this letter to say basically, thanks for nothing. I realize I am not chip foose, this isnt a television show and that my money isnt green enough. I mean, you sure as hell took enough of it.....for a basic part.

Today I called after ordering my gas filler door on 8/8/12, paying a "rush" fee for someone to go out and unscrew the two screws that hold in into the many, many, many parts chargers you have in your yard (and probably paid nothing more than scrap prices for) and paying for two day shipping only to have the part NOT show up as my painter waits, mixing the paint for my car.......

I then logged onto fedex and checked my tracking number and wow....scheduled delivery 8/14/12.....I really shouldnt have to babysit these folks, if I thought I needed to I would have logged in earlier...

I guess most of this is my fault, as NICK at DVAP told me on the phone he shipped it out 8/8/12, should be there....told me to take it up with FEDEX, should of had it over nighted....according to this specialist (parts counter idiot)....and he could basically give a f*&*!!!!

Thanks for nothing, again, DESERT VALLEY AUTO PARTS.

Dan (the guy that everyone will spot because his KK1 painted charger will PROBABLY be the only one out there with a different shade gas cap door........)

Thanks for the rant folks and FYI this was my experience with DVAP. We are each our own men, but I can tell you this MAN will never order another item from them.

Judging from the tv show, none of them look like the sharpest knife in the drawer.

+1 It seems like every time I watch that show, every restoration where the son goes out into the yard looking for parts is most concerned about original emblems. WTF? Maybe it's just me, but fucking emblems are the last of my worries in restoring a car.

Turbo50, if you need boneyard Mopar parts, try Stephens Performance in Anderson, Alabama. A bunch of good ol' Southern boys who love Mopars.

I didn't realize you were a Mopar guy. I love the '66-'67 Chargers. The back seats are just awesome. Do you ever go to the Mopar Alley shows at Ohlone College?
