Anyone have a fender rolling tool hookup? Got some small rubbing going on with large bumps in the road.

Does this damage the paint on the outside of the fender?

Not if they heat it up right.

Realistically you can do this job with a heat gun and hammer

I thought about hammering but I want to do the rolling myself using the correct tool to get a nice smooth transition just to the top of the fenders. One slip of the hammer could be disastrous plus it would look dented. Probably chip the paint up too.

Actually I have been rolling fenders on Foxbodys for 23 years, and the wooden bat and a hammer was the only thing we had back then, fender rolling tool is cool and saves some time and I do use it, I also have the heat gun which I really don't think it helps much on Foxbody, the paint is going to chip on the inside no matter what you do, the outside shouldn't chip unless you really have some cheap paint work. Foxbody rear panels are pretty hard to ruin when rolling, just takes time to do it right. I still use a hammer, wooden bat and the famous fender rolling tool, just depends on how much clearancing is needed, like when running a 28" slick you will need a hammer to roll the very bottom of the wheel well which a fender rolling tool can't do.

I just need to roll the top lips of the wheel wells just a little bit on my 64. I got an old wood bat. Maybe I'll try that with my heat gun. [ July 15, 2012, 02:02 AM: Message edited by: Secnd2nun64 ]

I wouldn't try that in the front, I have never tried to roll the rears but have done a few fronts on 64-66, do you need to do the fronts or rears? If you are doing the fronts be very careful, you can only roll half of the well wheel before the fender will get damaged, the fender will flex if you push it too far.

I need to do all four, about a 6 inch area on top of each wheel well.

I have never done the rears but if you pay me to do the fronts, I will help you with the rears.
