Ive always wanted a K5, but they are0 hard to find in decent shape... Well I found one thats pretty clean. Has 160k(original miles) .. Has 6inch lift kit, rebuilt tranny, transfer case, front and rear differential.. New wheels and tires.. Clean interior... They are asking 5k or better offer... What kind of problems do these encounter? Are they decent trucks?? What shud I offer?? Thanks ahead Cafords! [patriot]

I've had 3 k5's and currently have an 89' 350 tbi with a 7 inch lift, 35's, headers, edelbrock tbi performer intake, 4:10's. You cannot go wrong with these trucks. As long as you don't try to do break stands, the trans will be fine. What year? Can you post more info and maybe pics? [patriot]

they usually come with 3:55 or 3:73

if you go with 35 inch tires or higher, I recommend 4:10 or 4:56 gears.

the only weak point that these trucks have are the 10 bolt axles, but thats if you plan on heavy wheelin.

This! Love those blazers. I think they were full convertible up until 74? I can't recall which Blazers had them, but some had a 44 front up until 79 I think. Rears were usually 10 bolt, but I know some years had a 12 bolt in them too. If you have 35's or larger and you're wheeling, I would definitely be careful with that 10 bolt.

Found it, and this site had a lot of info and trucks for sale on their message board when I had a K5. Here's a page to all of the K5 specs: http://coloradok5.com/specs.shtml

I would sign up over there and look around.

Yup, full convertible top stayed until 75. That's a good forum, a lot of helpful info.

Get a 79 or earlier bronco. Tanks with better drivetrain. Or 68-74 early bronco, no smog and more manuverable. I wouldn't bother with a blazer unless it was 74( last of full convertables) or earlier, prefeably a first gen cause the shoe boxes are booty

75 is the last of the full convertables tops.

Well either way last of the full convertable and smog exempt....only worthwhile ones.
This way you also get a 44 front end and 12 bolt rear for sure.

yeah that sucks how they stuck with the corporate 10 bolt after that. I plan on doing a 3/4 ton swap in the future.

+1 got a 75 on an 8 inch suspension lift, built 350, turbo 400, 8k winch...running 35s but ran 38.5x15.5 tsl-sx swampers for the first 5 years I wheeled it. Been playing around with selling it as I messed up my back a few years ago and its pretty rough on me and getting harder for my dogs to jump into as they get older....
