Whats up fellas so i might be getting a cash bonus by the end of this month and thinking about changing out my gears. My car is a stock 94 cobra with a little suspension goodies. In the future i do plan to do a hci with either a supercharger or turbo. ( leaning towards the turbo ) Which gear ratio would be best? Id like to only do this once. Any input is appreciated thanks!

If you were keeping it n/a, I would say 3.73. With forced induction, I would lean towards the 3.27-3.55

Why the stock gears for turbos? I was leaning towards 355s for the setup but ive heard nothing but good news about 373s. Me going turbo wont be for a little while as its a work in progress. Trying to finish my suspension up before i even touch my motor. Just looking to launch a little harder for the mean time lol. These stock gears arent cutting it.

Turbos need Load to spool..and the huge trq numbers it will make you would prolly like a lower gear..I vote for 3:31

Just do 373's for now, keep your stock gears for if or when you go turbo. You need longer gears with boost, because you dont need to be high up in the rpm range, and always shifting.

Yes it wouldnt be an issue at all, but again it would be a waste of money doing things twice.
90GT take it to calaveras lets see if you can keep up.

Thanks for the input guys so for the meantime i believe i will be going with 3.73s while keeping the stock gears for the future. I was leaning towards 3.55s but might as well go a little bit taller right? Anyways hoping to get this done soon any shop recommendations for gear swaps around the eastbay? Or can this be a fairly easy do it yourself type of job?

I would go to a shop for your gears, it costs about 300 to 500 for labor. I had a friend put my 3.90's in, it was good for a year til a bolt got stuck in my ring and was clankin like hell. I got my 3.73's done by a shop. NO problems posi works great!

I put in 3.73's in when my 00GT was n/a. I put on the S/C and now I wish I was back down to 3.55's or lower.
