The way I see it, there's three views:
1. It's dangerous and illegal 2. It's only for ghetto people (misinformed and a little ignorant imo) 3. I love it, so let me swing (or swang, whatever)!
bottom line is, yes it can be dangerous, it's obviously illegal, but as muscle car fanatics, for most of us, it's part of the life style. I'm not advocating that we let it be and everyone has to like it, but what if as a community of enthusiasts we could come together and find a way to get a spot to do this legally without consequences besides bald tires and worn diffs? I already know some of you will say it will never work or happen or this and that, but there's off road trails and shooting ranges out there, so coming at this correctly and from an educated angle, there has to be a way. Just wanted to get some of your thoughts on the matter, and if anyone has any good ideas, lets try and get the ball rolling...

I'd have to disagree that its part of the lifestyle. It is part of a lifestyle for someone but not muscle car fanatics or people that really respect their cars or the power they're cars put down. To me its for someone who doesn't give a shit if they wreck their car.

valid point man, some cars have way too much money in them to be subjected to that kind of abuse, but would you agree that it's not any harder on a car than drag racing it?

I'd say it is harder on the car than drag racing. Cars aren't designed to be doing donuts, they are designed to go in a straight line, like getting on the freeway, driving side streets. Going from point A to point B.

You don't want your car to hit wheelies, you want to stay planted but to transfer the weight to the rear keeping the front wheels still on the ground.

truth is man, I don't participate much in it myself, my job depends on my dmv record, and wrenching is all I know. I respect that you aren't a fan, but a lot of guys are, and if there was somewhere to go and do it without getting in trouble, trashing neighborhoods, and putting others at risk, wouldn't that be a good thing?

yes but to go in a straight line from 0 into WOT on the drop of a dime? I think this argument shouldnt be made because some cars are built for drag racing and some can even be built for donuts. unless you guys want to say bone stock vs bone stock that would make this relevant. As far as the "safe place" goes this is a dead horse bro i know you mean good but if they didnt make one after everyone was getting killed in oakland by cars doing donuts then they probly dont care now. plus its a big task to put on such an event your talking about a lot of noise and smoke which would require a shit load of city council votes and alot of money on permits (if votes passed)but who knows maybe sacraceway could help you out message him maybe they have the power to throw something like this in thyre parkinglot [ February 12, 2012, 10:43 PM: Message edited by: 88FOX ]

I understand there is a time and place for everything . Yeah its illegal but so is all the other fun shit .If I wanna "swang" my car I'll go to a big lot in the middle of nowhere . I will NOT swang in a residential area or a populated area .

OK maybe I'm old and out of touch but can someone explain the point to me? Ok your Mustang can do donuts so does the POS in my neighborhood in a 1989 civic! Doesn't show you cars power or your driving skills and wastes tires. Again maybe I'm out of touch but why does every guy with a car feel the need to have a youtube donut video? And every time I drive to the store there's always like 4 or 5 assholes on the corner screaming swang em! Why don't you pay for my gas and $300 tires! Guess if you don't work and hang out all day it doesn't make you think about things like that. Ghetto!

I feel you on the people yelling swang em i hate that shit. I think it does take some skill, to me thats the fun in it holding a full circle isnt to easy for some but i dont see the point for the guys that just WOT and turn the wheel and wash out. Those donuts are a waste of time in my opinion. If your guna risk a ticket and tires and a car, atleast be trying to perfect you feathering and counter steering.. Its the dumbasses or in cafords terms "ghetto" people that start doing donuts in the middle of a intersection that is the people i believe cafords is referring to as being ghetto. So for anyone getting theyre panties all bunched up but you do donuts in a empty parking lot with no one around stop crying that your not ghetto.. its obvious [ February 12, 2012, 10:56 PM: Message edited by: 88FOX ]

my intention with this thread wasn't to sway anyone's opinion on the matter. I simply wanted to try and come up with ideas to give those who are fans somewhere to do so without getting in trouble, but I give up, as I see it's going nowhere

You crash, you kill yourself or the other vehicle that you didn't see. Cars go over sidewalks, i've seen one doing a donut and do it before. I laughed at him cause his rearend was still in the street while his mustang was on the sidewalk.

Your not old, you just have more respect and value what you own. Its true doing a donut shouldn't impress anyone, i can do a donut in my Jeep, doesn't mean its super fast.

Ok but im pretty sure everyone scouts the area for on comming cars and people before busting them. Theres two places most of is will never do that and that is near a school and in on coming traffic, its basicly commin sence and if some1 is too dumb to realize then maybe they should be the one not driving [ February 12, 2012, 11:00 PM: Message edited by: stock fox ]
