I can Vouch for Duncan. He is a good guy and a hard worker! unfortunately he has had to deal with with his far share of "great customers" [Roll Eyes] but he's a father and fellow car enthusiast just trying to make it like everyone else.Duncan has his plate full being an owner and operator of a shop as well as being a full time dad to 3 kids. I've known this guy for almost 10 years and his attitude and work ethic has never been anything less then stellar.Hell a REALLY good friend rents the body shop next door to Duncan and would NEVER have anything to do with somebody who's a shyster.

I know Dave is heated because he knows who had all of his buddies stuff in their car (Nasty Notch). But I ask, what else is a shop owner to do? he did write up a work order, Duncan did keep his nose to the board for the ENTIRE time the car was at the shop to see if something was funny with these parts with no luck and it wasnt till Nasty Notch posted the car up for sale that everyone came out and said the parts in that car were stolen. what else can Duncan do? He has cooperated with the police or anyone who has vested interest in this car.

My suggestion for this whole situation would be to take a step back and take a look at the rest of the people that Nasty Notch actually Associates with here on this site as well as off the site and follow the scum bag family tree and you will probably find more answers to this whole ordeal.

Trust me I hate car thieves just as much as the next person and its this reason why I gave up on keeping a foxbody, cant park them anywhere without fear of them being took.its just not Fox bodies but you cant have anything nice without somebody hating on it or trying to steal it and its not just a vallejo thing seems like that across the board.

sorry if you have to close this topic mods ,BUT some things need to be said.

+1,000 I have had a few dealings with yawn and I would never hesitate to do business with him again or send someone his way...he is a really good guy that doesn't mind lending a hand or a piece of advice...you can't blame the guy for a shady person coming to his shop to get work done hell no telling how many good reputible people from this board unknowingly installed stolen parts...you made a good name for yourself on this board so don't think some wild aligation could mess it up [patriot]

Done business with Duncan and talked to him on a few occasions don't think you can run a shop for as long as he has, if he was a thief you can't help it when you customers that are thieves . Seen this situation happen before with another shop it's a fucked up situation that these shop owners are put in and they can't tell who's a thief or not when they come through the door. In my opinion he's no thief!

I guess someone would have to feel the situation out, to find it appropriate to ask the customer to brandish proof of how or where they acquired parts.

As a business owner You have to tread lightly in these areas because everyone nowadays is sue happy, Or the other alternative he could drive away business from good customers.Im not speaking for Duncan, but for all we know Nasty Notch could have been bringing in new parts here and there to be installed over the course of a year lets say and they built up a relationship and he didnt think anything of it when these other parts came in for the motor change? If I went in to have lets say a set of gears put in and someone was hounding me for the receipt I would give it to them but rest assure, I wouldnt go back there due to being offended. Its hard for some people to believe but coming from vallejo you get a bad rep 100% of the time( some employers I have had to prove myself) I live in a good neighborhood and my house payment is always on time and I buy all my car parts legit. I'm not a thief, everything I have ever bought has a receipt to accompany it( so yes I would be offended). I do realize that this motor and what not is more of an extravagent setup but who was he suppose to notify? spread the word where? here? on the board? so nasty notch can see it and get rid of the "GOODS" the end result is still the same.

From the looks of it it looks like you get to work on cars as more of a side job/hobby. Duncan doesnt have this leasure. His business provides for his family. Trust me he has said time and time again he would love nothing more then to have Top notch clientele 110% of the time. Trust me he hates dealing with people who have caviar taste on a tuna budget.

I would say in light of all these Recent event If you could put together some sort of reasonable protocol or alert system for Business owners on here to follow and they all agree to it that would be great. But know this This site has produced a shit load of drama queens and the minute someone ask another business owner about a part and some info gets leaked all hell will break loose and you can refer back to this thread when I said told you so!

This is a GREY area and sometimes its hard to make the right call. I know this especially sucks for you because your tight with the owner of the missing car and It's really tough because Nasty Notch pretty much got on here and laughed in everyones face. But the more threads like this that pop up gives him more satisfaction of getting away with it and you put your self more at risk of exposing yourself if you have a potential lead on catching him.

I have a rough Idea of this whole situation, But the one thing that was never brought up is where is the car that had all this in now? the facts are he did bring the car in and have said motor and blower and tranny installed, BUT where did the car go?

Im sure a work order has the plate and or VIN number? trace that to who the current owner is? or if title hasnt been swapped to new owner registration will run out right? cops could press the owner of the car "according to dmv" maybe there is something on this car that can be traced back to the stolen vehicle? C'mon these are crooks, if they were smart they would have real jobs and college educations!
