OK... so its an emissions test. Still, the results are very interesting.

No. Everyone knows that 2 strokes are dirty. The misconception that they were addressing is that small engines are cleaner and more environmentally friendly than smaller engines. The Raptor was not only cleaner emissions-wise than the Fiat 500, the air was cleaner coming out the tailpipe than it was going through the air filter.

Ha! I think I might go out and get a "hybrid synergy drive" badge from a Prius and stick it on the tailgate. Maybe that would do it. [Big Grin]

test is comparing apples to oranges. your testing an engine with fuel injection and emission equipment like a cat converter to a engine with a carb and no cat. It would be interesting to see the test on the ford and fiat without their cat hooked up

Seems like they are testing something where the answer to me is obvious.

What are you talking about? Did you even watch the video? It was no shock that the leaf blowers produced the most emissions. The whole point was that the Raptor was actually cleaner than the Fiat, despite the engine being almost 4.5 times bigger.

that's funny how something small like a Fiat and newer puts out more emissions than even my 2005 Acura TL as well. smogged it for the first time and it's actually 0 emissions at 15 and 25 mph...

but yet I still have to smog test a ULEV car

thanks California

engine size has nothing to do on how much emissions an engine puts out.

what is comparing a raptor to a fiat supposed to prove? the raptor is a gas guzzler the fiat is not. gas consumption does NOT mean the there will be more emissions out the tail pipe. how clean an engine burns has to do with the tune and the ecu capablities.

The point is that the test is based on the assumption that people have that a larger engine consumes more gas therefore must pollute more than a smaller engine. I think califorina assumes this too. Funny how some people think a prius is better for the evironment than a regular car. they will put out dam near the same emissions out the tailpipe. A hybrid just gets better gas milage.

I guess its just stupid that people dont know how things work and must be show a basic common car sense test to prove something that has been known for awhile.
