Looking to upgrade from my little ranger into something bigger... Don't know too much about diesels so I thought I'd ask the great people of CAfords... What do you guys think? 2005 F250
Any and all input is greatly appreciated!

don't buy a 6.0 trust me, even the 7.3 aren't all there cracked up to be, when it comes to diesel dodge is by far best. all my friends who had powerstrokes sold them both 6.0 and 7.3 motors, and now drive gas trucks, only friends who stayed with their diesels are the ones that bought dodges.

as my friend who's a master tech for caterpillar and drives a 04 cummins told me "it's a lot cheaper and easier to work on an engine with 6 cylinders and injectors vs 8 cylinders and 8 injectors."

From what I've heared from my dad. The 6.0 is garbage but 7.3 is really good! Also yeah the dodge has a great motor to bad they look like shit to me. And 4 door short bed is sweet.

my friend says the only ford diesel to buy is 95-98 he said those first gen 7.3 powerstrokes are somewhat indestructable, but trust all my friends caught the diesel truck bug 2 years ago and the only ones still rolling a diesel truck are the dodge owners.

I had an 05 250 6.0 and I never once had a problem. It was great as a daily driver. Took it on a few road trips. And towed excellent. I towed my cobra and a 27' searay boat with it. I'm not claiming it to be any better or worse than any other truck but it was a great truck for me

Yeah those duramax's are pretty quick. And they have the allison trans too. I read with those before a curtain year they have injector issues. Never the less these diesels make big power pretty easy.

I just like the straight 6 turbo vs the v8 and making pretty much the same power numbers if not more.

Get a 7.3L, I love my 7.3 its badass. Runs hella good. Cummins motors are good but the Dodge trucks are junk. My buddy bought a new one and within 6 months the dash was cracked and the knobs and stuff for his air were falling off.
