Just got my motor rebuilt and I have a new exhaust to install but haven't yet. I cut my tail pipes right at the end of the muffler. The problem I'm having is that the car picks up quick in first but when I do a good hard shift to 2nd it gets sluggish in the begining and then picks up. I was maybe thinking its that exhaust that there's not enough back pressure or something? I don't know that's why I'm posting this to see if any 1 else has experienced this or would have an idea?

if you cut the pipes after the muffler, then it isnt that as the muffler still provides back pressure. If you cut them before the muffler, that would be your issue.
Whats the timing set at? if the timing sint where is should be, that will kill your torqe. Im sure there is about a million other things that could cause your issues though....
