That is my car on Maier's facebook. So far I like the front end, the car runs much cooler, it never gets above 180 now. I'm still working on getting the downforce to work though. The tricky thing about aero is that rear aero is simple, slap on the wing and go. However, making front downforce on sedan type car is not easy. I had to reinforce the splitter under the car because it was flexing under it's own weight.
At speed the front of the splitter was fine, but further back underneath the car it was flopping around. Part of the function of the splitter is to smooth the airflow under the car. I used some aluminum angle to make the splitter stiff. Just last week I ducted the air from the back of the radiator out the hood vent. Now, nearly all of the air hitting the front of the car should go over the top of the car. Only the 3" of air going under the splitter goes under the car. Theoretically the car should make noticeable front downforce now and I can easily adjust the wing to balance the car at high speed.

Looks good, I hear ya on aero it's tricky. I have a similar nose w/out splitter and wing similar to what was on the griggs #40 ole blue.

I would really like to make some changes to my cage before I run in Aix Outlaw too. I need to change rear down struts and ad an x between them. I need do add door bars as the cage is more of a "drag" cage. I also need a diagonal in the main hoop.

Tim,
Also what was the cost of the nose/hood/spiltter. Trying to figure out all needed by looking at the website, was it about $1000 $1500?

Every event I sign up for I usually create a new thread giving people a heads up in case they want to try it out...I'm a major noob to the whole open track racing thing, but after just one event I'm hooked! You just have to try it for yourself...it honestly looks easier than it really is though

I've even gotten into running league racing at the local indoor carting place (Grand Prix race on sun 200 lap enduro on tue with 3 pitstop driver changes)

For beginners its run what you brung as long as you pass inspection. I believe the type of wheel to wheel racing as seen in the video requires special licensing and has more rules for the cars raced.
If you're interested in it you really should try it. I've always enjoyed bringing my car through canyon roads and taking turns fast, but driving on a real track with other fast drivers/cars is like no other! If you want to try it, sign up for the event next Saturday at Infineon/Sears Point hosted by Trackmasters Racing...they still have available spots in the beginner group (which I'm signed up for)!
