Hey man last time I gave you my real world experience I am not sure what you did with it, hopefully you headed it and will save some money in the long run, so I will, again, help you out.
I had a customer bring me a set of those heads and man they were horrible.
The valve job had a step on the back side of it that just killed flow. It also had shit retainers and car quest valves in them.
If you buy them from Jegs, you are lucky and can send them back.
There is a reason they are cheap.
Now I can tell you that the edelbrock e streets are heads that I can get you for about $100 more than the $799 freedom series if you like.
I have been steerin budget minded folks towards the estreets and they are performing quite well

I will tell you that the aluminum and deck thickness looked good and since he didnt want the hassle of sending them back to patriot performance he had Daves port them and put new valves and valve job on them and they actually run pretty hard but he had a total of $1600 into them when the smoke cleared....and for resale...they are just ported patriots, not AFR or other big names.

I've read of several people having problems with oil consumption with patriot heads due to the valve seals right out of the box.

Well that's where I'm at right now I have the GT40's from my 95 Cobra and I can probably slap them on and go but with a fresh bottom end I would be much better off getting my GT40's worked on. But I'm not really interested in sinking 500 - 600 of work into my GT40's. I'm hoping somebody has a used set laying around that they can unload for a good deal.

Ive been looking for a used set in good shape for a customer and havent found much at all.
He is going to go with a set of E streets. They are a great head for the money (right at $860)

So whats the deal with the amount of damage to the motor? Any time frame to get that thing back on track? Also invest in water temp and oil pressure gauges on the A-pillar or somewhere easy to see. Good luck and I'll keep a lookout for a good deal on these heads for ya

Well I'm not looking for heads anymore since I already got some. Maybe I got the last set for less than $550... Then again I'm constantly looking for deals

I wouldnt run Patriot or AFR heads. Other things to worry about when buying any sets of heads, is upgrading to stiffer springs, a most in my opinion, correct length push rods, and rockers, so around $2000 without port work, by the time you are done, if you bought everything new. Also if you buy a used set of aluminum heads don't be surprised if they are cracked in places, that's normal, and can sometimes be repaired, otherwise they are done. You gotta be on Corral.net 24/7 to snatch up a deal like that. I've been looking for heads too and there's a nice set there now for $700. That's about the lowest set out there today.

What's the deal on those E-Streets? I read on Corral that the springs they ship with are worthless for anything bigger than a stock cam.

They are 125 on the seat and 325 open at 1.75 something I think... and if you want more than that Id say go with a better head to begin with or use eds lsx valve spring kit for around 130 bux.
