Didn't watch the video but i bet hes pleading for us to vote for higher taxes, i am not going to extend ANY higher taxes, CA needs to start cutting crap out of the budget and just pay for the basic stuff that we need to run this state.

Jerry Brown states he's cut 13 billion and need to cut another 13 billion. He's not asking to raise taxes, he asking to extend the tax increase set to expire this year which was set in place two years ago. If they expire, then he will cut from the JC, UC and State college system which threatens to shut down JC's across the state raises the price of a unit and tuition. My education is paid for along with the privileged in this country, but for folks that didn't enter the military and the middle class that don't make enough or make too much, they will feel it the most and in the end be the ones that suffer.
I agree, there should be more cuts in other places. Pensions for state and local government employees should be reformed. Well-fare should be reformed or eliminated if it was up to me. Healthcare reform.
I'm not saying extending taxes is the right thing to do, but the way I see it is, we've been paying the tax for the last two years. What's another 2 years to keep schools open and barely affordable while legislations works on reform for the above?

Couldn't agree more! It's disgusting how folks take advantage of welfare. Doesn't make sense to cut education for those trying to advance themselves, while POS folks milk the system.

WHY SHOULD PENSIONS BE TAKEN AWAY? I THINK FIRE AND POLICE SHOULD HAVE PENSIONS. IF WE HAVE A NATURAL DISASTER WHO IS GOING TO BE THERE FROM THE BEGINING TIL THE END. I SEE IT AS INSURANCE.
THEY SHOULD CUT WELFARE , FOOD STAMP PROGRAM,SECTION 8. IF PEOPLE CANT AFFORD KIDS WHY HAVE THEM.

I never said pensions should be taken away, I said they should be reformed.

^ pensions need to be cut when us taxpayers can't pay the bill. I'm not trying to take away from the guys who where promissed their percent...... But the new guys need to be the ones who aren't getting such a high retirement and medical for the rest of there lives. If a cop or firefighter retire at 50, how many years are they going to live? Our taxes can't fund retired people and the new guys joining on. It's one of the reasons we are bankrupt.
Either public workers take a pay cut and pay more for their medical or they can look for another job. IMHO

Thats cause Jerry Brown is an idiot. He won't cut the things that need to be cut but the things that scare people to vote his way. Lets cut funding for education but not government gas cards, and politicians salaries. ![[Roll Eyes]](rolleyes.gif)
The taxes didn't work obviously, i am voting no on their extension.

KINGROY I AGREE WITH YOU IT SHOULD BE REFORED. MY FRIEND WORKS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTENT HE SAID HE WILL GET 90 PERCENT OF HIS HIGHEST EARNING YEAR AS HIS PENSION.HE CURRENTLY IS 17TH HIGHEST PAID FIREFIGHTER IN SAN MATEO COUNTY

I say cut some of the of welfare recipients 33% of the nations welfare recipients live in cali.
22% of which don't fully qualify for it anyways.
Cut Medicare
Do something about illegals and the fallout from them being uninsured and raising health care costs when they have an emergency and visit hospitals.
Then I might consider extending some tax bullshit. Only after the most wasteful shit is delt with

what gets me mas is seeing people in low income or section 8 driving expensive cars and wearing nice clothing. I think the people that really need it should get something for only one year and get drug tested random
