Anyone been there? I know that Maaco generally should be avoided at all costs..but I've read some good reviews about them online..just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with them. Looking for a place to get a paint job.

They might do a good job but pretty much all maaco and cheap paint shops save their money by using thin paint and little clear. Got my 87 gt painted there and looked good at first. After a year the paint started to dull and peel everywhere. You get what you pay for

Dude relax..its just a mustang haha. Your acting as if a Mustang is at the same status as a Benz or BMW. Don't tell me your also one of those people that have a "winter" car, as opposed to driving your stang ahaha. Get back to reality, stangs are friggen cool, but nothing to be going nuts over.

Do you know which paint job did they give you? I saw someone here on the board that paid 1k for 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear. Seemed like it came out pretty well. I have a really damn good hook up in TJ that painted my 00 GT Kona blue, came out looking like a show car paint job, but damn..I really don't want to make the drive down to Mexico again for my cobra LOL

I believe it was the ambassador paint service and change of color. Came out to 700. They didn't paint the jams or remove emblems. I would check out miracle auto body. They seemed better and estimated 1k .

The Maaco in Dublin used to do a TON of classic car work. I took one of my cars there to fix a fist sized dent in the quarter right by the door striker plate. Gaps were spot on and the paint was perfect.
Unfortunately that Maaco moved and I don't remember where everyone moved to. That shop did great work.
EDIT: Crap, now that I think about it, was that a Miracle or Maaco. Damn. [ November 05, 2010, 10:55 PM: Message edited by: wilit ]

i can understand where your coming from after seeing your thread about your 93 cobra...but realize not everyone can do that, or afford to have it done. Its just a mustang and if the paint looks good its cool with me...I've heard of the paintjobs from the good maacos lasting a long time, So I wouldnt worry bout it if I was going to one of those.

my friend had is notch painted there..It actually came out really good..You couldnt see an deffects in the paint. I was pretty impressed. Also theres a Maaco in Dublin or maybe the name changed but they do the same thing..If you want better quality or more coats, you pay a little extra. Maaco has actually gotten alot better from years ago.

Are you guys talking about the Miracle in Dublin? I dont remember ever seeing a Maacco. If its the Miracle that was on the corner of Dublin Blvd and Hopyard/Dougherty Rd, those dudes are in Pleasanton now off of Valley RD/Stanley Blvd
I've had some miracle paint jobs in the past. Just do the prep work(sanding/trim removal) and color buffing yourself. Also make sure to get a base coat with separate clear coat otherwise you will be polishing it every other week. The more prep you do yourself, the better the final result will be. If your looking for cheap, check out the dupont paint shop stuff and spray it yourself. It's already premixed so you dont have to worry about screwing up that part.
