I think it looks a lot better than the edge, and yea its a car platform but other carmakers are going that direction too. look at what jeep is doing with the new grand cherokee based off the Mercedes platform - fully independent front and rear suspension. still has 4wd with 2 speed transfer case but honestly, how many people are going to use these for wheelers?

it's shouldn't be a jeep, leave it as a dodge, the grand cherokee needs to be capable, trail rated!

haha, well at least the wrangler is still solid axles front and rear! and they better not try to change that or their will be an uprising from the jeep faithful!

LOL... Trail Rated. What a bunch of BS. My buddy works at Chrysler and brings home a different Jeep every month. The Compass is "trail rated". I can't think of any real trail that thing could even attempt.

Ever since they introduced the Liberty and killed the Cherokee, Jeeps should have been badged as "mall-rated."
The Rubicons are a pretty cool option though, I'll give them that.

Back at the OP too, I agree the new Explorer looks like an Edge. Either way, I can't blame manufacturers for going this route. Not many people can afford to go pick up a car off the lot, then take it out on some trails and come back with custom pinstriping and broken parts.
Didn't someone on here have a pretty bad ass early model Explorer?
