so with the new 2011 mustang coming out, i'm strongly inclined to look at purchasing one in the near future. while I'm impressed by the v8, I am equally impressed by the V6. While I'm impressed the v6 power output, I'm just a little bit unsure of the stigma, quality, and resale value of getting a v6, like in the past few years. The only reason I'd go with the V6 is because of the Daily driverability , but don't know if its worth it as its still a V6 and not a V8.

I mean its a mustang, mustangs are supposed to be V8, but the new v6 is sick, help, im in a bind.!

comparing the stats on paper, the new v6 matches or beats a stock `99 cobra, and pulls down 31mpg.

pretty fucking impressive.

Go V8 dude, every time you take your V6 for a spin a V8 will roll up right next to you and pull away with the quickness and you'll just be stuck saying damn.....

Very true, 31MPG is very impressive while holding down 300 and something HP.

um, it's faster than any v8 mustang besides the 03/04 cobra and the new 5.0 stock vs stock.

2v mustangs will be getting shit on by rental car v6's all over the place!

V6 is pretty damn impressive. However, I would also factor in things like suspension. The old V6 Mustang's handle like complete crap.

Only way to really know what you want is drive both and make a decision.. and yes.. the V6 re-sale value will not hold up like the V8's

Wrong, the 05's and up are faster as well. And I'm sure the torque of older V8's will be difficult for the 6 to keep up with. We'll see. I'd like to see a side by side 1/4 mile with a stock 04

the 2011 v6 gets the 2010 GT suspension and brakes from everything I read, and there's a performance package you can get for the V6 that gives it the 2011 GT stuff-

quote:

Well, there will be a 2011 Ford Mustang V6 Performance Package, a model that will come with the same stiffer, more aggressive suspension as the Mustang GT. It'll wear 19-inch wheels with summer tires and the brakes will have heavy-duty pads from Performance Friction. The car will have a strut tower brace, a 3.31:1 rear axle ratio (2.73:1 is standard), and its stability control system will have a specific sport mode for performance and track driving.

I read in C&D they tested the v6 to a 13.6 1/4 mile stock.

The V6 and V8's are both going to be fun to modify. This is the first V6 that already has a huge advantage over anything prior so I can't wait to see what gets done to them. And now the exhaust can really be done right because it will truly be a dual exhaust this time, so it should sound way better than previous V6's. Either way it's going to be win as far as I'm concerned and I've even thought about the V6 as well; never thought I would! Again, great job Ford [worship]

Whats the torque output of the new V6?

2011 V6 mustang - 305 HP, 280 Lbs Torque, approx 13.6 1/4 mile

2005 GT Mustang - 300 HP , 320 Lbs Torque, approx 13.8 1/4 mile

2004 GT Mustang - 265 HP, 302 Lbs Torque, approx 14.5 1/4 mile time (?)

i think the v6 2011 is looking sexier and sexier by the minute,

the only thing is how would the exhaust sound with a custom exhaust like a bassani? i still would want it to sound like a mustang and not an infiniti g 35.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIhUZvsgg4Y&feature=related

its not like a typical muscle car sound but it still sounds nice, almost lamborghini like>

If you're worried about resale value, never buy a new Mustang. Unless it's a Shelby/Cobra/Saleen/Roush, it's gonna have shitty resale value. V6's have worse resale than V8's. I easily lost $15k when I traded my '03 GT Vert in. I got a pretty decent price on it, but it was still half what I paid for it.

How is this even a question, if u don't want a v8 and u want good gas go buy a prius.. By the v8 I wouldn't even settle for the v6 when I bought my magnum I couldn't ever do it in a mustang.

If by "Rice rocket" you mean it finally sounds like an efficient DOHC V6 making decent power, then yes, I agree with you...

I think it sounds amazingly better than ANY previous generation V6 Mustang or Camaro... and considering it's the most fuel efficient Mustang ever built, and the first car from ANY manufacturer to pull 300+hp and 31MPG...

I can't wait to see what this thing does with a little boost...

I'm impressed with the V6. Everything about it. You sure can smoke alot of older Mustangs with it! Only thing that sucks is that it won't have that nice Mustang V8 rumble we all love & turn our heads to when someone's rollin by. As for me, I see myself in the 5.0 in a few years when I see one on CL for a good price & fairly low miles [Smile]
