I saw a bunch of squids last summer in socal wearing flip flops, shorts, and a tshirts. It's a constant 90-100 degrees but I wouldn't compromise safety.

It's cool if they want to ride dangerously because they are organ donors and can potential help/save the life of someone more competent.

on a side note, iv been riding for 12 years, been in my share of accidents (on the road and off)and i still cant understand why some riders think its ok to try and tell others what to do!
i personally wouldnt ride in bball shorts or flippy floppys, but i pretty sure that this is a free country!
people shouldn't have to deal with others comments on how dumb others think they are!
idk im not trying to start a thread battle i just hate to hear the "you should you shouldn't" s@#t!
cant we all just worry about our self's, pluse its kind of like gossiping...........and only women do that! [Confused]

It's not about making others feel dumb for doing something stupid. It's about looking out for other riders.

Everytime i see a rider with no gear, at a gas station or anywhere and we happen to connect i mmake sure to say " i'd suggest putting on some gear for your safety".

But what if they dont want your advice? I wear my gear most of the time, but if i rode down to the gas station in my jeans and a t shirt and someone came up to me and said that i would be real close to punching them in their mouth and telling them to mind their business.

I think of myself as a safe rider, but I may make the choice to ride without my jacket. I am fully aware of my actions and the possibility of consequences and dont need some self righteous jerkoff to come tell me to put a jacket on.

you look at it like its helping but in reality its not.
rebelling is natural for humans, when you suggest being like everyone else most will rebel.
smart or not people will always do what is cool, helping some one that obviously doesn't need your help is always going to make you look like a square!
it sounds f#$ked up but stupid people are gunna die in stupid situations on a bike or off!

I see where you & Fr5.0 are coming from with the whole "i dont need your advice so back off" LOL but trust me, if you have friends that ride and friends that went down HARD you're most likely think different.

I mean think of it this way, what if California never passed a law for helmets? So if there wasn't a requirement to wear a helmet to ride, would you ride around the streets and freeways with no helmet? I'm pretty sure you WOULDNT do it after seeing the consequences right?

Samething with a jacket, most riders haven't went down and those are the riders i usually see around with no gear on because REALITY hasn't sunked in YET.

I'm usually up in the montains and i see motorcycle accidents everytime i'm out there and 95% of injuries could've been avoided if riders had protective gear on.

Out here in the Bay, riding is a hobby and we have a huge community of riders everywhere but most riders look out for other riders in all posible ways.

Do what I do just don't click on the link...I don't need to watch a video of people getting hurt and killed to know how to ride safe. I always get shit because I were my jacket 99.9 % of the time plus gloves and riding boots. Just because I like my skin....I ride with people that don't that is there responsibility I don't try to teach them.

Bad logic again. I went down very hard myself. Yep gear saved me. However, I still do ride (not in the twisties or freeway mind you) without my jacket on occasion. But I do know the consequences. And no I would not ride without a helmet.

I have had two friends who passed away on motorcycles, but no amount of gear would have save them.

I'M just saying, what you do is almost as bad as people trying to force religion down your throat when you dont want it. Your not doing anyone a favor by calling them out on their gear. People are grown ups and can make grown up decisions. Just because you have seen people go down hard, does not make it right for you to go calling everyone out.

Also, one thing about this world these days, if you try and give someone unsolicited advice you may wind up with fist to face, or far worse. Advise at your own risk.

Mike

I saw a handful of people riding on the FREEWAYwith no helmet. its not required by law in texas. I dont think anyone would call me stupid to my face if i ride in shorts and a wifebeater.

tree huggers pass laws! just because a couple loved ones died on there bikes before the helmet law, a group of individuals got together to dictate others lives! to many tree huggers passing laws!
note; i would rather have a choice then to have a bunch of mothers of dead kids tell me what i can and cant do! sorry for the rant.
to many laws, faits are seald before laws! some laws are needed, most laws are set by control freaks! [BS flag]

Again, I'm not going to call people out and call them idiots or dumbasses. I'd rather ADVISE them to gear up for their own safety because you just NEVER know.

That's it and that's all

As for the law, the lack of common sense in some people is why we have laws to begin with.

But what give you the right to give out advice that 100% of the time is unwanted?

The holyier then thou attitude has to go, you need to mind your own business. Your should understand that most people understand the consequences and dont want to hear it from some schmuck who just wants to put his nose into other peoples business.

LOL @ schmuck.. But what's what more funnier is that i gave that advice to OVER 100+ riders who've i've met at local gas stations or streets with no gear on and never got no "i'll kick yo ass yo" or "nooo! i don't want that advice"..

Maybe it's just a internet vs real person face-to-face thing.. Hell i don't know.

My advise will always be there, ride safe and wear your gear.
