The Mayans aren't the only ones that say 2012 is the date for end of the world. The Hoppi Indians, Nostrdamus and i think i remember hearing that the one of the religious books for Christianity mentions 2012 as something too.

Interesting stuff about the sun. Despite the insane speed of light, the earth's distance from the sun is such that even if it had burned out a couple years ago, we wouldn't know it right now. so, anything that would be sun-related in 2012 has already happened and is headed our way now . . . ominous LOL!

i think something will happen in 2012..but thats just me,you gotta keep an open mind about things i laugh when people think nothing will ever happen to us like were just in a lovely world where everything is great and theres nothing to worry about..but im not worried about 2012 i think something needs to happen,with all the bullshit in the world maybe we need to be wiped put..then again that just me ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

The suns light only takes 8 minutes to get to earth so if something happened to the sun in 8 minutes you'd know. A big solar flare might actually take longer depending on how fast it was shot off, how far the earth is at that moment, etc.
