me and a buddy were at u pull it in fairfield and seen a 81 mustang with a inline 6 never seen such a animal before

I was surprised to learn fox's came in 6 cylinder options also.
When I used to go to a store for a part, they ask 4,6 or 8 cylinder...I always wondered why they asked 6 cylinder.
Must be rare to find one also..

i know they had a 3.8 v6 in early cars but havent heard of a straight 6 shooter

Oh it was a str8 6?
I didn't even know about 6 cylinders in fox's until somewhat recently...let alone v6 vs inline 6 in a fox haha

Never heard or seen a str8 six in a fox, but the V-6's were available from 79-86....they were garbage but were available along with the 2.3 4 cyl.

i was with jon (duncan motors) when i saw it ask him so you know i wasnt trippin out

I wasn't saying you were trippin, I believe you saw what you saw...they must have put in a str8 six from a Granada or fairmont maybe....

nope 79 to like 82 came with a in line 6 just its not very common to see one i have work on two my whole time turn wrenches an both were early 2000's

wow I never knew this...you know your stangs, I got this from the Mustang Monthly site.. "Production and supply problems with the 2.8L Cologne V-6 put Ford in the position of having to return to the Mustangs original six-cylinder power plantthe 200ci inline six. The 200ci six actually returned late in the 79 model year in a few units and continued in service through 1981."

i would have never know if wasn't work in a shop in the hood i work on all kinds of weird stuff
