So I was out doing my physical abilities testing for CHP today and was smoking through it. Passed the 500 yrd run and everything else easy. The last thing I had left was the 100 yrd run and about half way in I felt the muscle in my leg twitch. I was haulin balls too and had 2 jog the rest of it. Managed to pass everything but now I'm nursing my leg over here.

Weird though since I had been running all week and played football/basketball aas well as squats but never had any issues. Then on this little BS run my leg wants to act up.

Anyone got any good recommendations for gettn it back to normal? I been icing it and having a girl massage it. Its working so far [Big Grin]

Pulled hamstring is like 1-3 weeks healing at least if its a minor pull.

rest is the best thing. Pulling muscles is a sign of 2 things too. Not stretching and not enough water intake. Once you pull a hammy, you are prone to do it again. Although your seems very slight. If it was a true pull or tear, believe me you would not have finished that test. But yea rest and maybe a compression wrap at night.

Yeah basically what everyone else has said. I have cronic hamstring pulls to where i don't like to sprint anymore. Make sure you stretch before your activity and after. Also warm-up and warm-down. One truth is, as you get older it's only going to get worse. lol

If you do one thing. Go to the QAP interview seminar.

btw, when I said rest I do not really mean sedentary rest....minimal movement. What you do not want to happen with a Hammy injury is atrophy or scarring of the tissue. Which happen if you rest too much. Also keep it elevated when possible. If you did not hear a pop, or feel pain in your back or see bruising. My guess is you did less than strain it. Maybe just aggravated it. But be sure for the next several months or so get in the habit of stretching it daily. Even if you have no plans of doing exercise that day. You do not want you hammy to shrink (atrophy)

Yeah I attended the seminar. Interview is this Tuesday. Should be cakr but currently u need to score like 85% on the QAP to be competitive.

But whatever I did seems pretty minor. I can pretty much walk normal now but everything is still tight as hell. I was kind of dehydrated last few times I worked out so it might have caught up to me. I won't miss doing squats the next few weeks.

Yeah but even at 85% that still puts you lower on the list. Good luck with your interview!

Good stuff man. How long ago did u submit ur PHS? I should have mine submitted this Friday so I can get the ball rolling. Hurry up and wait type deal. Guess it can be 2 months or more before someone gets back 2 u. I'm still waiting to get contacted by my background person for Fish & Game 2. Did they tell you which academy you might be looking at going into?
