I am thinking about opening my own business. Its going to be one of those coin operated car washes. Do we have any business owners on here? If so can I send you a pm?

Some of the downsides to owning a coin op car wash is its only busy during the summer time, theft and vandalism. I used to go to like 3 or 4 different ones all the time and talked to the owners. They were constantly having their equipment broken into and having tons of change stolen, replacing brushes or sprayers people broke and dealing with the guys who bring in the big trucks after mudding and plugging up the drain system with crap. Environmental laws effect what can go down the drains. I can't count the time's I've pulled into a stall and seen an oil filter laying there where someone changed their oil right into the drain. I'd talk to some current car wash owners and see what they face on a day to day basis.

The most important point is to think about that your trying to make a living off or adding income that your going to rely on to live. There are serious thieves out there that make their living off stealing from others, anything unmanned or has no one around most of the time is a prime target for these lowlifes. One guy in Roseville had to resort to buying a trailer and staying in it at night because he got ripped off so much, that's not much of a life. Even if your there you can't prevent someone from running over the nozzles or brushes on accident or just to be an asshole. I see there is money to be made or these places wouldn't be open in the first place but who knows exactly what it pays without asking around. I just know after talking to the owner in Roseville and how much trouble he was having I wouldn't put myself in that position.
