unless I figure out a way to get sharpie marker off of an LCD screen.

The wife went to Vegas so I have the kids this weekend. Well I was watching the Giants game when my youngest grabbed a sharpie and went ape shit on my computer screen. Is there anything I can do to get it off?

What type of screen is it? If its glass you can use almost anything to get it off and it won't damage the monitor. My TV has a plastic front on it and if I tried anything rough or harsh it would destroy it.

**My wife had the perfect advise. Use one of those Mr Clean magic erasers! If you've never used one of these things, get a box and try them out. All you do is put a tiny bit of water on the eraser and rub, it will clean almost any surface. I had a small cooler I used for lunch and it had grease all over it from use, I tried brake clean and all kinds of stuff to get it off and it never looked clean. I used a Magic Eraser and it looked brand new. Awesome for detailing the interior of a dirty car as well.**

I can't even give her a time out. It's my fault for not watching her. But the wifey is going to go nuts because I wasn't watching her/and what she did. I may stage a burglary and throw the screen (and other shit I don't like anyway) away. JK.

Anyone want to buy a 22" LCD with added black contrast? 10 bucks.

I'm going to try the toothpaste if no one else has any ideas.

It's a plastic screen. If I can't get it out with any of these remedies, I'll try the blood of a two-year-old [Big Grin]

99 cent aquanet hairspray [worship]

On clothes I spray a good amount on the stain and throw it in the washer. It should start breaking down the ink upon contact. dab a small amount on the screen first.

If you stop posting we know the wife killed you too [Big Grin]

Try the magic eraser, I've used it on my screen and it worked fine to remove a scuff mark where a kid's shoe was dragged across it.. Just don't use any harsh chemicals or anything with grit in it or you'll have scratches.

If it's glass just use alcohol, I would also just try it in one corner before doing the whole thing.

dont use toothpaste. I would not use anything abrasive. I think they have LCD screen cleaner and it comes with a applicator pad.

seriously this works. try it on something like a peice of plastic if you dont believe me. use a white board marker over the top of the sharpie, then erase. This works amazingly well. then the rest you can use one of the other methods. this way your not using a bunch of chemicals and scrubbing.

dampen a rag with alcohol (I use denatured alcohol from the paint store) and swab with it. Alcohol is the primary solvent for Sharpies.

Mr. Clean magic eraser is a light abrasive. You are trading a solvent for the elbow grease and may scratch your monitor.

Nail polish remover has significant amounts of acetone. It will dissolve or discolor most plastics. Most brands have a little ethanol in it as a co-solvent. The ethanol would do the work, but the acetone would do the damage. Why risk this?

Hells ya it worked! Thanks for the tip. Thanks to everyone else that suggested a fix. [dance]

It's ok though, if it didn't work and my wife saw it, I bet I would have told her to fuck off! I paid for it anyway! [BS flag]

Seriously though, thanks for the help [Whoo Whooooo!]
