K BOUGHT A CAR..NO PINK..AND CANT GET AHOLD OF OWNER TO GET PINK..TRIED EVERYTHING..WHAT DO I DO??!! I USUALLY WOULDNT BUY A CAR WITHOUT A PINK BUT IT WAS A GREAT DEAL..I KNOW ITS NOT STOLEN(HAD VIN AND PLATE RAN)BOUGHT IT FOR A $100 BUCKS AND GONNA FLIP IT BASICALLY, BUT I WANT THE REG TO BE IN MY NAME...DO I JUST FILE FOR A LOST PINK?? DO I NEED THE OWNERS DRIVERS LICENSE NUMBER?? I HAVE HIS NAME AND THE ADDRESS THAT IS ON THE PINK,BUT HE SUPPOSIBLY CANT FIND IT....NEED HELP ASAP!! HELP WOULD BE VERY APPRICIATED..NO HATERS!! ALREADY DEALING WITH TOO MUCH DRAMA WITH THIS CAR!! ![[Eek!]](eek.gif)

dude good luck... you still have to contact the orginal owner for a bill of sale & he has to fill out a paper from dmv. for a lost pink. I went through this on my cutlass. i had to drive from vacaville to santa rosa 4 times before i got everything dmv said it was all good. when was the last time the car had reg?

put a lien on the car for storage fee's and in 30 days you'll have ownership if the current owner does not pay the fee's and claim the car.

ihave a bill of sale from owner when i bought the car but he just didnt have the pink...how do i throw a lein sale on it??? i thought only a company could do that?? like a tow yard or auto place??

if you have that dmv bill of sale paper filled out by both you and the registered owner then you can just use that, I have done that plenty of times.

use the bill of sale for what?? i would like the pink cause it so much less of a hassle to re- sell the car..

hey go to DMV and tell them what is going on. They will have you get a BOND maybe for like $1000 or so, (its like insurance) and then you can register it. This just happend to my Barber, he couldn't speek english so he asked me to help him get a vehicle bond and he had no problem.

you take the bill of sale that you and the original owner signed to dmv so they can transfer the paperwork to your name, then its up to you if you want to smog it and wait for the pink slip.
This way you will at least have paperwork under your name and when you sell the car just write another bill of sale from you to the new buyer.
sounds complicated but its really not, take a trip to dmv and see what they say

My barber had no paper works incuding a bill of sale so he explained to them what happend it was a cheap free car, so they made him get a surety bond for the value of the car, basically its insurance that covers the value of the car. They estimated his free van for $2000.00 and so he had to get a bond for 2K it cost him $200.00 and they registered the car in his name and got him the pink, Just go to DMV and try to register it. I've got cars reg with just bill of sales. Just go in and they will tell you what you need.

If I am reading this right you have a bill of sale with everything filled out? If you do your good to go. Dmv will send you the pink slip in the mail after that. It just might take a month or so to get the actual pink slip
