Topic: Anyone ever had to go to CHP for a slaveged vehicle?

I went to the dmv to try and register my stang i just bought and the paper work I got back said I needed a Smog wich i already knew and it also said
-REFERRED TO CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL FOR INSPECTION. IF THIS IS A REVIVED TOTAL LOSS VEHICLE , A CHP INSPECTION CERTIFICATE (CHP97C) IS REQUIRED BEFORE THE APPLICATION CAN BE COMPLETED.
Anyone have any idea what the hell that means exactly???

the vehicle was involved in a accident an totaled out for somethin small prolly..all you have to do is pass a safty test(turn signals,lights,brake lights,horn etc..that happened to my car when my grandma hit me

If thats all they look at id be more than happy to take it down there!!!!!!!!! I just don't know if they would be trippin about the motor because my car isn't really " SMOG FRIENDLY" if you know what i mean ![[burnout]](graemlins/burnout.gif)

if your car isnt smog friendly.. dont take it to the CHP... i guarantee they will cite and bite yo ass

did they say you need to go to CHP or just need to get your vehicle varified??? you can find private varifiers
because I know you need to get a safety check on the vehicle indicating all the light etc works and then get it verified, so why CHP??

I had to take 1 for vin verifacation before, but they were hella cool bout it, the didnt look under the car or anything, just under the hood, and the door.
