It's pretty much the same thing, my friend took just about everything they offer except the body work program, he did some really cool shit in the high performance class, But it cost quite a bit, I believe it cost him upwards of 45 grand, but bottomline is same thing as wyotech, you get what you yourself can make out of it.

when it comes to learning about automotive repair, its all about the books and hands on.. "F" the school, its way too pricey, at first i had thought sequoia would be a good place to learn, but after seeing the people that graduated from the course and started working with me, i was koo.. i've seen sequoia grad's work on cars and leave the lug nuts loose. WTF......

i am a uti grad. took the auto/ford programs and then got accepted into the volvo advanced training program. all i can say is you get out what you put into the program. yes it was pricey, o well... the instructors aren't there to babysit you. come to school with a positive attitude and soak up as much as you can. take advantage of open shop days to work on your car and help other students with theirs. my recommendation go tour wyotech/uti and talk to the students while your there. i toured both schools and talked to some students and i chose uti because it was more what i was looking for. hope this info helps.

I go to UTI right now. It's expensive as hell, I thank god I'm on the GI Bill and veteran reductions. The one thing the teachers there and everyone else that comes out of the school will tell you is the experience in working at a shop. The school won't teach you everything, but you combine it with getting work experience it'll all work out.

Why would anyone name their school UTI? I'm in the medical field and the 1st thing that comes to mind when I see or hear UTI is Urinary Tract Infection not a auto machanic school. [Confused]

Going to UTI would be a big mistake. It is amazing that you can go to a University or get a law degree for less than the cost of a UTI program, LOL! If you are crazy enough to get into the auto repair profession, attending a junior college automotive program would be the way to go.
Furthermore, Don't be fooled The fancy UTI ads in the car magazines that show snot nose kids working on a Ford GT super car! Am I the only one who cracks up when I see a UTI advertisment? It's amazing that today's kids are dumb enough to fall for this bull shit!

I got news for you ...you come out of UTI or Wyo tech you still we be hired at the bottom..takes 5 years to get to journeyman status. I went to a good JC and got a AA deg for Auto Tech. I have worked with plenty of trade school grads ,some are very good techs some are not. But you will start at the same entry level either way. It will take you longer at a JC but cost you less. dealerships are cool to work at( I did it for over 10 years)but flat rate times and warranty practices should be made illegal, the way they try to rip off techs. I now work for a major company in the fleet department and make very good money with great bennies. By far the best way to go. good luck.

I was signed up and inrolled for UTI In Sac. Pricy i still want go back... i went for a week the Drive from my house and there Was to Risky with No licsense... plus I wanted take care of my Mom... till she passed away... now shes Gone i can get back to schooling...

I picked UTI not just for they had the classes i wanted... I was allrdy accounted for few other things right after i gradauted.. and a Few local shops were gunna hire me allrdy Knowing that i was going to the school... i had job lined up for a Ford Dealer ship working on the Cars right after i Graduated Unforntually i decide to not go on with the school... But i plan going back this next year.. to Me Its not about the Money... Yea its pricey... but Its about how much you Can learn and what you want learn about... your gunna throw away Money for somthing u want do No matter what.. so why not put towards good use(educations is pefectly good use to put ur money towards) In my eyes i hates school but ever sense my mom passed... and how much she pushed me on going.. made me realize how important education really is.. and if u want succedde in life u need to do the things u love for me i love cars i love Mustangs in general and love to work on them... i want own my Own Shop in 10-15 years. so i need go back to school learn about bussiness and financing... and all the stuff i dont No like how work on electric parts of the engine

sorry if anythings Miss spelled i need work on my grammar [Smile] plus im wee bit tired ...

anyways i think UTI or wyo tech its personal pref.. go to school take tour there Both great schools... most people just stop going cuz of the Money... put ur effort in on somthing u want to do.. the outcome will be what u want in the end.

2 stangs said it right.it doesnt matter what kind of schooling and credentials you have.you can graduate uti or wyo and have all the ase's but when you go for a job youre gonna be on the same level as joe blow that just walked in off the street.credentials mean nothing in this buisness its experience that gets you up the ladder.

the only reason i got my ase's is because some places will give you a small bump in pay if you have a certain amount of them.i feel the only reason to get ase's is to prove oure serious about your trade.but ever since these trade schools have started popping up all over the place ase's are getting a bad rap.ive seen ase master certified kids straight from tech school absolutely screw everything they touch up.

just cause you have ase's doesnt mean you know what youre doing now days

The thing I tell people about being a auto technician is you may not get rich but if you are good you will always have a job. Get all the lisc and certs you can. Like GTowned mentioned it may not mean your a good tech but you will look great on paper(resume').I have been a ASE cert master tech for close to 20 years now(may be 20)and it has always helped me get a Job when I got tired of the one I had.

If you want to work on Ford's then the Ford ASSET program is the way to go. You either have it or you don't, it's not meant for everyone. Atleast with the ASSET program you come out having your AA in automotive from a JC that means something. Comparing an AA to a certificate that UTI or Wyotech gives you is like comparing a Harvard PHD grad to a JC drop-out.
