Just curious where have you guys seen the best prices on LCD's? Not plasmas, the room it is going in has alot of windows so I do not want the glare from the glass of plasmas. Oh and it will be 42+ and 1080p. Just curious what prices ya'll have seen out there.
Looking to grab one this weekend.

Look online for pricing, Circuit city will match the price even if it's online pricing as long as is not a ridiculous low price, I'm sure they will definitely beat fry's and best buy.

well the sharp Aquos I looked at @ bestbuy was 1100 46in 1080p, 120hz refresh, 2 hdmi, good screen adjustment ability, .27 dot pitch......all around a good tv.
Even Walmart has better deals w/surround sound. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10737326
I was just curious if anyone found like a ridiculous deal on tv's [ December 05, 2008, 12:06 PM: Message edited by: N8 ]

Since you said you wanted to pick it up this weekend does that completely rule out buying it online? How much do you want to spend? I think there are some good deals going around but it depends on how much you want to spend.
If you are just putting it in the kids room or just a rec room. At walmart they are having an Sanyo 42 1080p set for sale. I know Sanyo sounds like crap but for 599 bucks it's a smoking deal.
There might be a 47 Phillips 1080p lcd for under a grand with 5% coupon at buy.com. Not sure if it's in stock at this time since people where jumping on it fast.
But for lower everyday prices and warranty purposes Costco is really the way to go ESPECIALLY if they have those coupon books going on. Plus there is nothing like instant gratification and you can watch the DLH vs Pac on it tomorrow!

that dynex doesnt look bad. And I am with you. I would rather have 2-3 mid grades than one high grade. And yup A-ware is the only way to go for me. [ December 06, 2008, 03:14 PM: Message edited by: N8 ]

Have both the Dynex and Vizio 42" and for the money you can't go wrong. Picture is great, dvd's, games, dish. No complaints with either and have had both for a year or so

yup, because they are glass screens. My TV room has hella windows and lights. Plus they are not ideal for gaming. Also I am going to be running my stuff through windows media so a computer will be hooked to my tv. Plasmas are not really for use as a monitor as well.
FWIW, I went with a 47in Aquos from Bestbuy.

westinghouse makes very good lcd's, and I see all the different kinds where I work. I work for a video game dev. and we have 50 tv's here, all but 1 are lcd, the other is a 50" 1080p panasonic plasma in the demo room.
brands I don't like from using and calibrating them:
sylvania viewsonic magnavox olevia sceptre lg
the westinghouse is one of the best and is the most affordable. We have a 46" 1080p lcd that is f'ing awesome.
just don't buy a refurb westinghouse, they have a horrible warranty, but I think all refurbs are like that.
fwiw, all the westinghouse tv's I've calibrated had 0 overscan, and were 90% perfect color calibrated out of the box. I highly recommend them, especially for the price.

Thanks Blind.
Out of curiosity what game dev do you work for? I used to to do character modeling for Namco and still do some freelance character design for them.
Thanks for the revew. I am considering aphillips for my kids room. Walmart has a 42 in phillips for 780.00
