my brother recently got fired from his job being an idiot. by getting in a altercation with another employee. he applied for unemplyoment and recieved a packet in the mail telling him how much he will recieve a week and to wait ten day to mail it back.

i was guessing that means he has been approved. and then he got another letter today saying that he will be recieving a call for a phone interview the day after he has to mail a form back saying he hasnt worked in the last two weeks. on the phone interview thing it says they may ask questions on why he was terminated and if he was warned. those type questions.

can he still be denyed? does he have to tell them what happened exactly? can he just say he was fired for another reason? this question goes out to people who actually KNOW

His best bet would be to read what will make him elidgble and non-elidigble, should all be within the packet he received.

Best bet would be to talk to the HR department. [Wink]

if he got fired, he is not eligible. he going to have to go through alot of crap to get his benefits. unemployment is for workers who get laid off of work, but if he got into altercation, i doubt he'll get it

Wrong!! He can receive benefits as long as he dosent say that he got fired for discipline reasons!! Just say he was fired/let go but do not say their was any violence or threats!! They will interview the manager & see what they say!!! So I repeat!! You can get unemployment if you were fired!!! Just cant be fired for violence or threats!!! The phone call is standard!!! & the form he will mail in every 2 weeks!! they say mail it out after Sunday!! You can mail it out the Fri or sat & get ya check wed or Thursday!!! I know I had 2 do it!!!!!! LoL
But let the company's words deny him not his own!! So like I said make sure he just says he was fired or let go due to an argument & really didn't understand why he was let go!! Thats all he needs to say!! I hope he gave the name of the H.R or manager that he was cool with!! because thats who they will talk to who ever name he put down on his orig sign up form.

100% sure he cant get it. they interview with the supervisor and the witness that was present when he was fired. if a altercation or fight was the reason, he cant get it. i've been through this before, i got into a verbal conflict with my manager and he fired me cause i called a P.O.S. i wasn't able to get unemployment.

Did you admit that 2 the unemployment interviewer?? If you did then hell naw you wasn't going to get it!! But you should of given a manager name that you were cool with & cross your fingers they helped you out a little by not making it seem as bad!! He cant say he did anything just say he had an argument & next thing he knew he was told he was being let go!!! Not sure why he didn't think he did anything wrong & let it go from their!! Its a shot!! They interview the manager that he named as his supervisor on the orig form he filled out!!!

Depends really on what you say and how you do so. My lady went on maternity leave and after that ran out we applied for unemployment because she quit her job. She quit due to hostile work conditions etc, all legit, and they approved it. [patriot]

I myself have appeared at unemployment hearings just to make sure the people I have let go for disciplinary reasons do not recieve unemployment. Call me a dick or whatever, but people who deserve to loose there jobs do not deserve free money.
