Just finished installing the boost, EGT and trans temp gauges. Chip makes a HUGE difference in the way the truck performs, transmission shifts are much smoother and quicker. I got a flip chip from a small company called DP-Tuner that all the 7.3 guys swear by. there are 16 slots on the chip for different tunes and I can add tunes at any time using a USB cable from my computer to a plug wired under the dash. For now I have an 80hp economy tune and 120hp performance/race tune

Great choice! I have the same setup. Are you experiencing shift flare? When I went to the 120hp tune when the trany would shift from 1st to 2nd under full throttle it would feel as if the tranny was slipping. The tranny would hesitate for a quick second then shift into the next gear. Would also happen on 2nd to 3rd gears. To fix this problem I bought the John woods valve body and had the dealer install it when I brought my rig back for a Trannsmission leak. Fixed the problem completely! What exhaust are you going to go with? For me, the 80 econo tune shifts a little too hard for bumper to bumper driving so I end up going down to the 40hp or 60hp tunes.

Yea i've noticed a similar issue when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. at wide open throttle the rpms will drop slightly (almost as if it shifted) but then it goes back up to redline and then shifts into 3rd. How much did the JW valve body set you back? I'll probably be saving up to have him do a whole tranny rebuild for me if or when my tranny decides to go out on me. But for now I want to do the valve body and a deep tranny pan

Yeah, Shift flare sucks. This valve body fixed the problem completely. It was money well spent. I got my parts from ITP diesel. The owner has always been great with returning technical help quickly and customer service is great. I guess it was like $250 for the valve body. Yes, I recommend instaling the deep tranny pan. And if your going to be towing anything I would recommend upgrading to the 6.0 31 row cooler. After I put this on my truck my tranny temps stayed under control towing 6,000 pounds up ice house road to go wheelin' up at the rubicon trail.
