Talk about being corrupt. PG&E sent me a $1770 bill for repairing a gas line at my house. I replaced a fence post and hit a gas line while digging a new hole. It took the guy from PG&E 1/2 hour to crimp the line (plastic lines) and add a connector to the cut section. They had 3 guys come out for the repair. 1 to stand lookout and the other 2 alternate working.

Here is a break down of the charges.

1hr engineering $90
11hrs construction $1293
1hr Gas Estimating $151
Labor overhead $201
Lost gas $35

Call back and ask for a manager and raise hell, I had some problems with pge and comcast where they try to screw me in the past, and everytime I just call back and ask for a manager to get everything resolve. The bottom line is they always try to charge for alot of bs because most people pay without even looking what they're being charge for, when you call back be demanding and sometimes being rude is what works.

PG&E can't refuse service if there is a bill dispute, that is the law. They are just hoping that you don't know your rights. Be sure to say "I am disputing this bill" As said before, talk to a manager. The CSRs who pick up your calls don't have authority to do anything worthwhile.

But, that's nothing...PG&E helped in identity theft against me. Some guy in SF used my SSN to open an account. That doesn't sound so bad against PG&E, but it turned out this guy called up with several different SSNs until he found one that worked (mine). PG&E didn't even question it and even had it in their records that this person called with several different SSNs. It only got resolved (months later) when I refused to pay my bills.

They came out and shut off my power once because my payment got lost. If I called before 5 they were going to turn it back on.... or so the paper said. I called at 4:30 when I got home from work and they said there were too many calls to get back out to my house that day, I had to sit without power for an entire night and it was in the high 90's. I talked to 4 different people, all said there was nothing they could do. They don't give a shit because we have no other alternative for electricity and they know it.

Comcast is cake, I get my three boxes rent free + free HBO (I had it this way for more than two yrs), whatever the problem is call and ask for a manager to get it resolve, sometimes they want to raise your monthly bill for one reason or another, all you have to do is tell them you want to cancel because you found something cheaper and next thing you know they start to make you all this offers.

i agree with xvt's 85 5.0 comcast is eay to deal with they were late durring my intial instal and i called and raised hell and now i have free HBO for two years. but PG&E is creazy had to deal with i went though the samething with PG&E were i did eveything i should have done when i moved out but i guess there was a $30 outstanding bill which they never sent me or added to my new PG&E bill or never forwarded to my new adress which i gave them. they sent me to thier collections and it droped my credit score! [Mad]

i mean if they would have just checked thier own files and sent me the bill i would have paid it! instead i found out when i did my annual credit check. there weak ass collections didnt find me even though i am thier customer with the power in my name!

PG&E was hella cool when we just moved last. They kept everything running smoothly between homes and we didn't end up having to pay a penny more than we should have. I think it just depends on who pushes the on off buttons on their computers for your actual account.

I've also noticed in Newark the Meter Guy comes around all the fuckin time. Which I think is a good thing,..where in Fremont in three years I think I saw him maybe 3 times. In 2 and a half months I've seen him 4 times in Newark. Also in Fremont we were paying about $230 average and this past month was $93 and the month before that was $113.

Sorry you got a raw deal though, having to fix that kind of shit is a pain the ASS for sure.

You should be able to provide pG&E with a copy of your lease, and your 30-day notice from your old apt complex to prove that you were not living there anymore. They will then back date the costs to the current tenant at the residence.

Also if that doesnt work, contact the old apt complex and have them call PG&E on your behalf to get the situation resolved.

I ran into problems like this at my old job. 1 of the 2 things I posted above should work with out any problems. If you can prove you werent living there, they cant charge you.

Good Luck [patriot]

They just hit me with a 4 year old bill. They are collecting back cash for some reason. My bill was $800, it needed to get paid anyhow but they only would accept a 1 time payment of the $800 plus my normal bill. It sucks but I owed it.
