aahhh what a day

This world is polluted by the infamous so called lowballer..tsk tsk tsk..

basically this is how my day went down

had a guy come all the way from the bay, money and all, come check out the car I have for sale. When he gets here,he says "ooh man!its an auto!".I CLEARLY STATED IT WAS AN AUTO IN MY AD's!.so he says "man I can give you $1900 rite now cuz its an auto".I say "why do you offer so fuckin low?can you see the condition of this car?!?its unmolested"..he hits me with "you know you cant make this car run faster than a 14 sec cuz its an auto?"...end session.

then, another gentlemen comes to check her out.Looks at the car, seems to like it.Starts checking it out.you know.then goes and basically sits on my latch. The car does go down a little bit,I mean thats what a suspension does, rite?.then he says "yea we're gunna need to put some new struts and springs"...hmm..then he goes to the front, and asks when I changed the oil. I tell him when, around 260miles ago.He says "ooh yea you put royal purple.you know royal purple tends to make the car leak."..so after all this,he tests drives it.TURNS THE A/C ON FULL BLAST,DRIVES THE CAR HALF WAY AROUND THE WORLD,COMES BACK,and says "it runs really good.but imma need some rims, candy paint,mach1 hood, suspension, brakes(which are new),rims, and a few little things.I can offer you no more than $2000.THIS CAR HAS NOTHING TO OFFER.."..I mean comeon bro its a CLEAN STOCK CAR!NEVER MOLESTED!CMON!

ahhh the wonderful world of BS and lowballs. [patriot]

im not here to cry, just to inform you of this neverending ordeal. [Razz]

Rants like this are rather ignorant IMO. You have to expect a person to want to haggle a bit. Have you ever offered someone lower than their asking price? It is just the nature of selling used items. Now the lame excuses for offering less than your asking price I understand the rant for that. But ranting for the lowball offers = [Roll Eyes]

I somewhat agree with your post but not entirely.
Yes, if you sell an item you should expect to be offered less than the asking price and not be hurt by it. we agree on that.
However, there are some really LOWBALLERS whose offers are almost disrespectful. I mean, they know the asking price, condition of the car, yet knowing all this just start their offer at an almost disrespecting low. Why Disrespecting? because they knew the condition of the car and asking price, YET they wasted your time, gas and what not to try to pull a fast one and get a great deal.

Can i blame them? no.. i'd do the same, but it's quite annoying.

Set your price a little higher and it would make people think twice about coming out there. If i see a price of 2500, then you can usually offer 1800-1900. But if you set your price a little higher people with that amount of money are not going to even show up.

+500

Like I said in your other thread. Your price point has a lot to do with it. Set it higher so the haggle price ends up being what you are after anyway. I always knock 500 off when I go in. Then go from there. But I am the self proclaimed "cheap bastard". Second only to Jdub

this is where im coming from.I set the price of what i want for it,ididnt think of raising the price up so people will offer what i want.but that would mean less people will look at the car because the price is so high.

BUT i got guys that kno what a car like the one i have is worth, and they know that my asking price is reasonable for what it is,but they still want to offer ridiculous prices and just make shit up of whats wrong with the car and what they have to do.

like im sorry you need to put "22" spinnerz and KANDY PIZAINT" on the car, but that investment is up to you.

I sell things in the ford sale section from time to time. I rarely EVER sell anything used.
Pretty much everything is still in the boxes and only removed to take a pic of it. I buy alot of things, and then change my mind and sell it.
I mean I even sell stuff below what it costs anywhere else, and I still get the offers at half the price I'm asking.

Example.....
I have a set of black 18inch Shelby Razors that are brand new. Only one has been out of the box(for pics). To buy a set of these yourself would run you at leat $800(retail $260 each). You can't even find these in black anywhere, only chrome, gun metal, or silver.
I put them up for $500 and get $200 offers all day, even on craigslist.
I know the economy is bad, but giving shit away, or for that fact, people thinking I want to give shit away is f'n bs.

westcoastpj: keep your shit like I did, i'd rather throw it in the dumpster than give it to some cheapskate scam artist. If you ain't got money, don't go to the sale

LOL! Welcome to the internet [Smile] Lowballers are just part of the game. When I was selling my dad's clean, low mile, 89 GT I had people shooting me stupid offers over e-mail without even looking at the car or asking any questions about it. I just never responded to them 'cause I know they don't really want to buy the car.

You pretty much just gotta filter out the people who are trying to get something for nothing and the ones that are really interested in buying what you have for a fair price.

I think you may turn away some buyers with a higher price, but you'll definitely turn away people who arent even in the same ballpark. Because of craigslist, it has spurred a lowballer mentality. I used to put things up for what i would take, but because of craigslist people would lowball all day long. So i'd say jack up your advertised price and let potential buyers haggle with you so that you can get your price or even higher than what you would have taken. It only takes one buyer to get a deal done anyways. People are bitches with their money.
