I found a short block for my car on NMRA's forum. Problem was that it was located in New York (I live in Florida now) and the owner didn't want to ship it. So I made him a deal and he drove down to Norfolk VA to meet me. The short block was such a deal I felt I had to drive and check it out. It is now in my possession
He wanted $2800 for: Dart Iron Eagle 347 short block Forged internals and SRP pistons Only 4 passes, then changed cams and without proper clearence bent the valves
After talking to him for a bit, he starts telling me about other parts he has for sale. So we made a package deal. This is what I got (I know, I am bragging but what the hell )
Dart Iron Eagle 342 short block (still virgin 4.000 bore ) w/full studded mains Pistons were smacked by the valves, but pistons should be fine with a little clean up. If not JE's don't cost that much AFR 205 heads w/ nitrous exhaust ports #1452, no valves but all other hardware is there Jesel rockers Powerbond balancer Comp Cam pushrods Comp Cam solid roller link bar lifters Engle Solid roller cam ARP head studs
All for the low low price of $4000
I would say the trip was well worth it
Now it's time to get back to Moroso motorsports park before they close it for a year for complete renovation
New, faster timeslips to come

that does sound like a good deal, I hope you can get it repaired for a reasonable amount.

Pics will be coming tomorrow
Even if it costs $2000 to fix, I am still WAY ahead !!! The rockers alone are over $900. The total of all of the parts would cost $8500 to buy

That is a killer deal on those parts!
How much did you spend on fuel to drive that far though?

About the same as it would have cost to ship everything and I got to look at everything before handing over the money
My Ranger averaged 22.6 mpg

Still no pictures to post, they are on my computer and the HD took a sh*t.
It was still a good deal, but there were some problems found when I tore it down. Crankshaft was trashed. He was using an automatic and I guess his torque converter was driving the crank forward. Left a DEEP groove in the rear thrust surface. Bought a new crank and got the rotating assembly rebalanced. 10 of the 16 pushrods were bent. Cam dowel missing and a little distorted. Going to have the cam redrilled with a new hole 180 degrees from the original hole.
Just today, my Victor 5.0 intake, 1" phenolic spacer, 75mm TB and EGR/TB spacer arrived. Only paid $400 for the whole intake set up
I love it when people change combos and dump their unused parts
Will try to get pictures soon
