I bought seven dayton style wire rims. I purchased the rims just for the tires. I got all four for 150. Well the bad thing is that the spokes are all rusted on the all gold ones, and the 2 times gold ones have rust just on the nipples. Chrome on both sets is nice. Now other than navel jelly what can i try to get the rust off. Is there a process where i can strip these rims. Process would need to be cheap since you can get these style rims for almost nothing now. I think it may not be worth my time, but would hate to just scrap. thanks

Try and take them to a metal recycling area they might give you some money for them, otherwise don't waste your time.

If it's just surface rust, prepare use some elbow grease polishing those wires..

If the rust has penetrated the point where integrity is compromised, scrap it at all costs. Never jeopardize your ride on some rusty rims!

Whats the spoke count on those? There are some wheel repair shops that have some heavy duty stuff that may help you salvage those rims. I saved a set of Zeniths back in the day like that. There used to be a place in San Jose called Acker Stock Rims that did mine. They may not be still in biz.
