So last Wednesday I picked up a 1986 Pontiac Trans Am to use as a daily driver. The car came from the factory with a tune port injected 305 and an auto trans. 4 wheel disc brakes, power everything, t tops, etc..
Well, the guy I got it from had decided to go carb pulled of the plenum & intake and dropped on an intake, carb, and Holley regulator.
The car ran like ass because of the stock in-tank fuel pump and the poor Holley regulator trying to cut down all that fuel wasn't working out to well.
So I decided to under take the task of dropping the fuel tank and modify the stock sending unit so that it'll just be a pick-up tube and no in tank pump.
Now here comes the reason for my post, a rant. The 82-82 F-body has the be the most horribly designed car I have ever been in contact with. Just to drop the tank you have to pull the exhaust, take off the panhard bar, and take off a heat shield just to be able to see the straps that hold the tank on. It's rediculous.
I'm not even going to get into how retarded the subframe is.

I'm in Indiana, we don't have smog here so I'm not worried about that. I should be getting some pics of it in the next few days. It's black with dark grey/black interior and t-tops.
Factory Specs Are... Engine: LB9 5.0L 305cid V8 T.P.I. -Horsepower: 190 @ 4000rpm -Torque: 285 @ 2800rpm Trans: 700R4 Auto Overdrive Rearend: 9 Bolt, Borg Warner, 2.73 gears WS6 Special Performance Package Standing 1/4 Mile: 16.23 @ 87mph 0 - 60: 8seconds Top Speed: 138mph
The car is just a Trans Am with the WS6 package, I don't think the GTA option came around until 87 or 88.
Anyways, thanks for lettin' my rant/post about my Pontiac. lol
