So last night on my way home from work, it was pitch black and I'm in stop-and-go traffic on 680 south. My car has been misfiring a lot that night and finally it died, in the second lane, when traffic stopped. And it was dead, couldn't start it at all.
There I am, stuck in traffic. The cars in front moved away, and a line is forming behind me. Man that's awkward. So I have no choice, I jump out of the car and start pushing! Traffic is screaming by on the left, where I'm at, and rolling by on the right.
People start honking at me. Like, what do they want me to do? It was slightly uphill so I'm putting everything into moving that dead hunk of metal. Slowly, it goes over to the slow lane.
Meanwhile, cars keep moving in the slow lane where I'm going. I keep going but people keep sneaking around until I'm completely in the lane.
Finally the car gets a boost - a couple good samaritans are helping me push. I yell thanks and hop in, and steer off onto the dirt shoulder.
I don't have a voltmeter but I'm already guessing what the problem is. I turn on the headlights to check my theory, and they are very dim. Have you diagnosed it yet?
I just put in a new battery, so in my mind there is no question it's the alternator and/or voltage regulator. I get on the phone to AAA.
While I'm talking to AAA, bright headlights show up in my rear. I'm thinking, damn, now the cops are going to hassle me. I was wrong.
It's a big white truck, kind of like a tow truck. I'm like, WTF? I go over there and check this out - it's a freeway rescue service! And it's free! I have never heard of that.
What a stroke of luck. The guy charges up my battery for about 10 minutes, and I'm good to go! I get my wife to pilot me in front, and take off without headlights (but with parking lights on).
I managed to limp home with the last few volts left in the battery. Fukk I hate this shiznit.
So today I spent all morning replacing the alternator. On the plus side, alternators for these old cars are cheap! $65 for a brand new 65 amp! Of course it doesn't have enough voltage. So I have to go back and get a regulator. That's the downside - $30 bucks for that sucka.
Oh well, I hooked it all up and the car drives great now. Much better than it's been over the last week.
I'm back on the road. Woot!

Wow thats great. good to hear.
Well i guess i have a story too:
So for the past month, i have been getting the tire pressure sensor light on in my 07 GT, Ive noticed that the front passenger side is the culprit.
Everyweek I end up adding more air. Finally it sticks, i maintains at the proper air pressure. Then all of a sudden I get the light again. I get out the car when i park home but the front tire is fine.
I look back and the rear passenger tire is completely flat. I find this hole from a nail or something. Well today after work, i come home and take off the 20s i have on then(Black Foose Nitrous) and put the stock 18" fanblades. WOW, the car felt sooo much better. The 20s were really weighing it down.
Ive only driven with the stockers for like a week before i got the dubs, so with the mods is feels great. Just wanted to post this cuz i wanted to call a couple friends and tell them but i thought it would have been hella weird lol

Yeah I thought about it but didn't want to make a production out of it. It's my daily driver and I just want to get back on the road. Anyway I don't have a lot of electronics in the car, just halogen headlights, foglights, and stereo/sub.
And, good story Pitts. Glad you didn't get stuck like I did!
