nate, I'm going to go with the boxer wins in a boxing match, the MM fighter wins in a fight (majority of the time)

Fighter cause once a boxer is taken on the ground they won't know what to do and will have lost all their punching power.

Well I am sure both will seek training in the others discipline as part of preparation. I know I would. So it is not just taking each fresh from their environment and throwing them together. So it becomes whose style is more effective then the actual individuals ability. I am leaning towards a boxer. Due to the fundamentals and ability to hit a moving target and read the body. I would pay to see a good match like this. And no not Kimbo.

i still think the fighter because they already know how to punch and grapple, the boxer is going to have to learn that stuff and it won't be second nature to him like it is a MMA fighter, once he gets in hte ring he will want to stand up

I wonder how well MMA would do in a REAL all out street fight against a boxer? I mean all that rolling on the ground and takedowns can get you just as messed up as it could your opponent when it is on concrete. Theirs broken glass and everything else on the ground. would you really wanna go rollin around on that shit?

Another thing, why is this a big deal? Tommy morrison is a HIV positive washed up boxer that never reached his full potential because of a weak chin fighting a 350lb unknown fat bag of shit that might not even show up. why is this news?

Dana, you can't assume that just because a guy is a boxer he has no other arsenal other than punching power.
Remember, many guys became boxers because first and foremost they were great fighters. And up until a few years ago, if you were a great fighter and wanted to get paid, the boxing ring was the place to do it. These days there are many other options.

Morrison is a joke, you can't even consider that an MMA fight. They ruled out going to the ground and limited it to just striking, then a half hour before the fight the ruled out kicks, knees, and elbows, so it was just a boxing match with 4oz gloves.

fuck morrison, that was bull shit, hes claming to ba 1-0 in mma, myabe 1-0 in a cage but that was a boxing match dont say you want to fight mma and then not do it, his lying ass shouldnt be in there anyways all disseased up and shit.

Yea that was pretty weak, they may as well tied other cats hands behind his back. They severly handicapped the match. Better yet they should have made Morrison where 25 oz gloves then since dude couldnt kick, elbow or nothing.

Actually Morrison's HIV test results have been cleared and deemed to have been a false positive test result. He's been cleared to fight by NSAC I know for certain.

You have to out think your opponent and always be 3 to 4 moves ahead of your opponent in your head. "If he does this, I do that"...."if he goes for this, I counter with that". MMA is way more than just "rolling around on the ground" which would be BJJ you'd most likely be referring to.
If you were involved in a street "fist" fight would you expect your opponent to come out of the blue and high kick you in your temple or grab you by the back of your neck and plow his knee into your face? There are far too many ways to win and lose in the MMA arena. Boxing IS single faceted. MMA is multi-faceted.

I kinda doubt the validity of the test he has been taking. For example, The meds Magic Johnson is on are so good that you cannot even detect HIV in his system while he is on them. That is not to say magics cured by any means but rather the meds "mask" the virus.
Tommy Morrison has had MANY test's over the past 10 years and they were positive. He is now taking these meds and it is masking the virus. The truth will come out eventually, just wait..
Anything can happen in the street. I definately respect MMA and Boxers alike. If what you are referring to is a street fight with kicks, knees and punches rather than takedowns it could go either way depending on who lands the cleaner shots first. What you are descibing without takedowns is like a boxer vs kickboxer type stuff. Both crafts require skill both mental and physical to be properly executed. Truth be told I highly doubt if we ever see a top boxer vs MMA in the near future. MMA does not pay shit compared to boxing

Truth be told I highly doubt if we ever see a top boxer vs MMA in the near future. MMA does not pay shit compared to boxing
That is exactly what makes MMA fighter's hungrier. MMA is more about mutual respect and the actual fight where as boxing has simply become a dead man's sport in my opinion. Too many boxers like to run their mouths about how great they are. To me they are no different then any other sanctioned professional athlete. They are paid far too much money for what they do and THAT is what makes them different then MMA fighters. NBA, NFL, MLB, boxing etc are all well compensated. They know this, so they in turn can whine and bitch when they run out of money because they've bought their 30th home in the last 5 years.
As for Morrison's HIV tests......most testing done within the last 15 years has been either the Western Blot test or the ELISA test which test for HIV RNA and for any traces of lowered T-Cell counts. It wouldn't be the first time that the medical community has ever fucked up a test for a pathogen.
