I'll start from the beginning when i bought my jeep two summers ago...
3" suspension lift with 31 inch tires
 -

After my first wheeling trip i decided i wanted more, so i put on a 1" body lift, trimmed the fender flares and fit some 33x12.5" MT/Rs (yes that is a puddle of T/case fluid under the jeep. first hollister carnage [Razz] )
 -
swapped on a set of TJ flares for more clearance
 -

I drove it around like that for a while and decided 3.07s SUCKED with 33s. but i didn't just want to re-gear it... and i really wanted to get rid of the POS c-clipped D35. so the brainstorming started. I decided I wanted to do a simple spring over lift while swapping in a stronger rear axle. two months ago i started gathering parts. I picked up a ford 9" w/ 4.56s and a spool for $300, then found a stock dana 30 out of another YJ already set up for spring over, with a MORE crossover steering kit, 4.56 gears, cable posi-lock and a lockrite for $400. (I do plan on swapping in a stronger front axle when money allows), finally i found a set of 35s with 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern to match the 9" (i run 1.25" adapters for the front axle which evens out the width as well)

everything went pretty straightforward in the swap. and i learned a lot about my jeep. here are some more pics

Just before starting to pull the front.

Out with the old...

in with the new...

I don't care about the jeep I wanna see nude pics of the girl! She's hot!!!!!

As for your jeep, in my opinion its WAY too tall and I'd drop that sucker at least 4-5 inches. Your cog looks all messed up. I sure wouldn't want to side hill or hill climb in that thing! Hell I don't even want to ride in it it would probably fall on its side getting out of the driveway. NO thanks!!!

oh and one other thing, drive that jeep like its supposed to be driven and you're going to break that front axle. What do you mean by cable lock posi and a lockrite? Lockrites are lunch box lockers. That front 30 should be used as a boat anchor. You're on borrowed time with it. I bet the first time you lock it up and actually wheel like its supposed to be that axle is gonna break.

Your 9" looks good from the pics it looks like you have the large bearing truck style 9. It should be a 31 spine axle. But you have a spool and you plan to street drive it? YIKES!!!! Can you say tire chirp??? You'll wear out your tires fast. A cheap fix is a lockrite or aussie locker.

If it were me I'd ditch that front 30 and look for a 44 or a 60. You can find 44's all day long that will be the same width and lug pattern as that 9. Hell I even have one. And I have a waggy 44 too both are just sitting in the back of my truck.

If you got a tj dana 30 I wouldn't be so hard on it. But a yj 30??? JUNK!!!!! Its like a bomb waiting to explode and you just lit the fuse with the locker.

no shit shirlock [Roll Eyes] You just told me everything i know already. if i was made of money i would have swapped in dana 60s and be done with it. but i'm building this thing on a budget which means a little bit at a time. and wheeling it "as it's supposed to be driven..." what a redneck ass comment. Yes i wheel my shit but i don't beat the crap out of it like some people.

You don't need to get all cry baby about it I was just pointing out some things that could save you time, money and breakage. Since you already knew this stuff and you wasted your time with that axle you're telling me that you're not very smart. Hey that's your problem not mine! Hell you could do a 44 cheap and have a much better axle but hey since know everything then I'm sure you already knew that too.
[Roll Eyes]

You asked for jeep people to check out your junk so don't get your panties all bunched up when some of us comment on it whether good or bad. We all have budgets so don't cry a money game with me. Hell I reserved most of my comments and just pointed out a few things that was in YOUR best interest, NOT MINE. When you flop it and/or break your front axle I'm gonna laugh.

And yes I am a redneck so tell me something that's not so obvious. Hell I'm a red head, I drag race and I wheel. Redneck is a compliment to me!!!

Yea i'll be sure to let you know when i break it [Roll Eyes]

i could never have built a dana 44 for the price i bought my the dana 30. just for the front axle alone in stock condition with the wrong gears, no locker, no high steer etc... people want $400-500. then i have to buy all the aformentioned items to set it up for my jeep. I did the calculations and decided this would be fine for now. when it's all said and done, i'd rather just skip the dana 44 and build a dana 60 for a little more $$ up front. but again i'm not made of money so this is going to have to wait. and oh yes, i'm sooooo upset that someone on an internet forum doesn't like the way i set up my junk [Razz]

Ok I just got a pm from someone higher than me on this site telling me to be nice so here's a serious reply from me.

Yes you did get upset you got defensive too quick. Ya a 44 would have been more money that's for sure. But like I said I had a dana 44 in the back of my truck and I would have given it to you for cheap since you're Harold's friend. 44's run about $250. $400-500 is way too much you can find them all day for around 250.

Here's my thoughts. I'd rather build a 60 more than a 44 of course. The initial cost is what separates them the rest is close to the same. But if its just a rig that's going to go no larger than 37s and not beat on like its stolen then a 44 would be fine. Plus there is better ground clearance with a 44.

I just finished building a 44 for my other buggy. I got the front for $250. Gears cost $99, master kit $80, Aussie $250, and set up around $500 (gears and steering). I'm into it for less than $1200 which is well below the price of a stock 60. I realize that you got the 30 set up for dirt cheap. There is a lot of money in that axle but its what's it all worth when it leaves you stranded on the trail. I would rather start with a better axle and build it slowly while having piece of mind that I could at least beat on it a little without worry of breaking something. 35's are hard on 30s no matter what. Don't get me wrong, I think you'll be fine with it open just not when locked.

But its all good its your build. My next question is about the ride height. I personally think its too tall. It may be just the pics but it seems like the cog is sky high. And are you going to go with a shackle reversal in the future?

I'll have to post up some flex pics when i get some. I think it'll be just the right height for 37s once i get a stronger front... and if you find a HP dana 44 for cheap let me know! hopefully i'll have some money together soon to start gathering some parts. I have 2 sets of spares for the dana 30 axles, hopefully that'll last me long enough to get a 44 built up at least [Razz]

and i'm not sure what you're talking about with the cog? [Confused]

and about the cable posi-lock, the YJ dana 30s came with that pesky vaccuum disconnect that doesn't always work (especially when cold). the posi-loc just replaces that with a cable actuated fork. it doesnt have anything to do with the lockrite

COG is center of gravity. Ya I'm sure it will look better with a bigger tire. 37's are cool. I'm gonna run 36" Iroks but I'll wait til I wear out these 33 tsl's first. (this is on my cherokee not my cj). Shouldn't take me long to wear them out. It looks like you're good with spares but if you want another I have a short side that you can have. I have the long side but it won't do you any good its from a non dc axle. I hate that vacuum disconnect shit. Lots of cherokees came with it too but luckily mine didn't. I have a hp 44 that would match your rear perfectly in width and bolt pattern but I'm using it. I'll let you know if I come across another.

Ya post up some flex pics. And if no nude pics of the girl then how about some with a better angle!!!!
