is any one in the cg? well im 20 years old and i went and enlisted today... so its gonna be a long trip. i got to go back in tommrow and finsh some paper work and talk more. im so happy that i am going in.

i have a buddy who just left for boot camp in NJ about a week ago... he's 20 as well and has been wanting to do it for a while. he's going to be a reserve. i have another buddy who's 20 who got back from boot camp for the coast guard and told me a lot about it. he's going to be a reserve as well. and i have 1 more friend who is 25 and has been in the coast guard for 6 years. if you have any questions, let me know and i can pass it on to them.. good luck bro. i've considered it myself.

My brother has been a coastie for the last 6 years. He just got promoted to E-6 and received orders to Miami Beach... that lucky ****! He's been around a bit and enjoys it enough to reenlist for another 4 years. He spent some time in Tampa florida while awaiting a slot at yeoman school and got to see a lot of the Carribean on a cutter. After completing Yeoman school he got stationed at Alameda and has been there for 5 years. He got to be a chauffeur for a 3 star admiral for a while too. Now he's going to do some real high speed stuff in the Atlantic again, boarding vessals and doing a job that resembles mine.
I've been in the Marine Corps for almost 2 years and checked into my reserve unit 1 year ago this week. The USMC is definately a much tigher group and you get to do more fun stuff, but chances are in the USCG you won't be spending much/any time in the Sandbox ![[Wink]](wink.gif) Make no mistake though, there are some Coast Guard personel over there.
Regardless, props to you for taking that step to serve your country Start doing push ups, sit ups and running, just don't get yourself hurt. Learn to keep your mouth shut and eyes and ears open, follow instructions, and you'll do fine. It's just 8 weeks. Do you have an MOS lined up or are you an open contract?

hell yea from both of ya. im so happy. im going to do my best. ive been thinking bout it for awhile. all i want to now is go. please let me know more info. from what it sounds like and what ive looked in to... it gonna be the best thing ive done.... yet besides a hs dip. im gonna go for 6 right of the batt. what do i got to lose. im not even half life.. ppl do this for 30 plus years in service. i just want to do good and make something for myself and who im servin.... the us and me

Don't stress about boot camp. I could sit here and tell you stories but when you get there you'll still be like ![[Eek!]](eek.gif) Take it as it comes at you. Don't worry about any one event, just focus on what you're doing at the moment. Your drill instructors will teach you EVERYTHING you need to know. If you're recruiter gave you some info to study, read it, learn it, memorize it!
