Looks like a cool place to mess around.
By the way Dana what's needed to go out with you to one of these places (vehicle wise)?
I just picked up a 4x4 Screw and want to at least put some 16x10" rims with MT MTZ tires....but i don't care to put a lift on it.
Would i just waste my time getting stuck everywhere
Not lookin for too crazy a stuff just wana play outdoors and get a little dirty

There was a brand new stock jeep messing around in the riverbed, and it climbed the trail that the toys did. i think you wouldn't have a problem as long as you didn't do anything to crazy.

your definitely welcome to join, i usually go alone which is a big no-no i am sure but i don't do anything to crazy. i like looking at the scenery. We didn't get to explore way far back because when we got on top of one of the trails someone started unloading their gun and they were like in the forest right next to us. I couldn't see anyone and they weren't shooting at us they were shooting across the river. We left though and went back to the other valley.
by the way my GF made a video of me crawling up a trail i will post it once i get it from her. [ January 04, 2007, 12:42 PM: Message edited by: 1968_Fastback ]

That mining place looks like a safe place to wheel. But if you're looking for safe places that have a little bit of everything from really easy to difficult you should try Hollister. Its a really nice park I go all the time and infact I'm going on the weekend of the 12th. Lots of people go with stock rigs just to get a handle on them and have a little fun. Hell last weekend I saw an EVO 8 wheeling!
I also went wheeling this past weekend and have a bunch of pics. Any of you guys wanna see the pics?

Yah there's no history to hollister its just a fun and safe place to wheel especially for beginners. Plus if you get stuck there's always rigs that can pull you out or people to help. Hell I saw a service truck out there wheeling. It was a plumbers truck and he still had all the pipe in the back of his truck. Funny to see him doing donuts

i have only been there twice and the 1st time there was only about 4 other vehicles driving around in the area i was at and none of them tried to go up that part of the hill. A lot of rigs drove downstream towards the lake we went down that way but its just a flat river bed that 600-700 feet wide, nothing cool looking. Heres a pic I've been told there is a trail back there that will take you all the way to the Con. [ January 04, 2007, 01:14 PM: Message edited by: 1968_Fastback ]

I don't want to hijack dana's thread so I'll just put up a few. But yah you're more then welcome to come out to Hollister. Its a good place to get to know your rig and its safe, well safe as long as you don't try to follow me! hahahahah. But no it really is a nice place to go and a great place to learn. I really only go for Tank Trap all the other trails are cake walk. But I do like to lay it down on its side going through jungle runs. Here's a few pics of wheeling this past new years weekend. You probably don't want to start out on these trails LOL. And yes I'm near vertical they calculated me at close to 90 degrees. The guy standing to the right in the 1st pic is standing straight up so that will give you a reference.

We go up 80 to colfax and I forget all the road names to get their after that. Their is a smooth dirt road that leads to a qaurry if your bring your qaud or dirt bike you can pin it easily and it has some wide turns to it so you pitch your bike sideways and high speed without fear of hitting objects.

Well what I was more curious about is noise. Mainly because it looks like a great place to 4 wheel and to fire off some jacketed lead. What's your estimate Steve as far as overall length and depth of the pit? Would I be safe firing .308 rounds in there?
