No, that is not true. The 5.0 Mercury Capris share the same underpinnings and drivetrain as it's Ford Mustang siblings. The only difference is the sheetmetal and trim moldings. The only advantage I could think of having a Capri versus a Mustang is that the Capris had slighly flared fenders.
