When I installed my 347 I installed the harmonic damper and didn't know that I should verify the timing marks etc. As it turns out the damper had slipped? and was 11 degrees advanced. Luckily when Kurgan did the dyno-tune he noticed it and fixed the problem in the tune.

Since then I've picked up a new harmonic damper and will be installing it. I know I cant change the timing until I have the tune corrected. Is there a specific way to install the damper such that the timing marks will line up properly??

1. Set the #1 piston to TDC on the compression stroke.
2. Install the balancer.
3. Now adjust the pointer to point to 0.
4. Have a beer.

sometimes when the dampner gets old you will notice it is slightly wobbling as it spins.. also check the lil rubber piece on the dampner, its gets worn/weathered..
