what do i need to do a 3g upggrade>???? can anyone on here locally (oakland,sanleandro,hawyard,)do it for me? i got the alternator fro ma taurus at pick n pull, any help would be appreciated

you must get the harness that goes on the alternator and run a power wire to the solenoid on the driver side and grind down the alternator bracket to clear the alternator.

Go to YouTube latemodelrestoration has a video on doing the upgrade good guide granted they used their alternator

I like the alternator out of a 94-95 mustang .the taurus plug is in a different position.also a 175 amp fuse and holder out of an expedition can be had at the junk yard for 5 bucks.

hey guys thanks for the help. so i did my upgrade and i used a 96 mustang alternator. it works just great! my question is tho, is do i have to use the power wire????? and also now i notice that everytime i accelerate the voltage goes up then back down. it stays up when im driving but at idle it goes back down......i am also running electric fans...

Are you using smaller pulleys? my 95 does because of the pulleys.

yesi have pulleys. i belive they arr bbk under drive pulleys. is there wa way to fix that?

Run a 1/0 gauge wire (with an inline fuse) directly from your batt. to alt.
