So I finally found out that my block has a broken piston ring . I am currently looking for my best option. One option was getting a motor from Jaspers but I'm really against it. I would really like to have block rebuilt but all the local shops say they don't do it and suggest getting a motor and two shops suggested jaspers. Anyone have any suggestions of shops that will rebuild my block? Any around the penninsula/eastbay area Or anywhere I can get a good motor? My budgetis 5k right now. I know it's not much but that's what I'm currently at. Please any info will help. Thanks in advance.

I don't know they all tell me they can do a rebuild exchange but the block is coming from jaspers. I'm not sure if I trust a jasper block in my car

My cousin owns a repair shop and most of the time will do a rebuild exchange from a reputable builder such as Jasper. Why? Because the time it takes for machine work, parts out of tolerance or not rebuildable and the labor time to pull, rebuild and install are in many cases not in his or the customers favor. A rebuilder such as Jasper also has a great warranty for non-commercial vehicles. Of course, we will rebuild if the customer desires, but will always let them know of the possible delays / challenges. Its a matter of economics.
