the locking gas cap on my 65 does not line up correctly, the lock tab is not horizontal. how does one fix this? i am guessing you need to either disassembly the cap and reassemble it rotated one or two notches, or do the same with the filler neck interface with the cap. which is correct / easier? thanks. cop

You probably need a new cap. Mine did that too, also leaked fuel. Replaced the cap and no more issues/ lines up perfect.

the inner fill tube seal lid some times gets bent or worn out of whack. some times a pair of hand clamps or pliers , patience and some skill is gona have to reshape that filler neck housing, even supposed news one never fit just right.
