Author Topic: backfiring SLOW95GTS ¯ Member # 10365 posted                              so I've been having a little issue with my non mass aired 86. while i drive in cruise speeds or rpm range 1k-2k it backfires out the intake i believe, and i'm guessing out of the tailpipe trying to accelerate to catch up with traffic.Did major tune up,(plugs,wires,coil,fuel filter, oil) so any help will be appreciated, thanks. -------------------- 1995 Mustang GTS 5.0 - "minor mods" Posts: 1199 | From: East Bay | Registered: Oct 2010  |  : dvuspny ¯ Member # 10949 posted                              Check your timing. Reset the TDC of the distributor. Best if you use a piston stop as well. Recheck your firing order...spark plug wire routing from distributor cap to each cylinder spark plug. Even a cracked spark plug ceramic. ..... You could have an aged distributor needing replacement. Secondarily you will need to test your fuel pressure. Buy a repair manual to maybe guide you for both of these simple issues.
