I have a 2004 Mustang gt that I notices it has burning more gas than usual, car just passed smog not to long ago a fuel pump, fuel filter were replaced....But it still burns more gas than usual...I do smell gas near the tank though...any one has any hints?

the filler tube gasket is probably torn and it's leaking gas when filled over 1/2 full. It was probably torn when the fuel pump was replaced.

take a look at it, passengers side, it will probably look wet or have a ton of road dirt grim around/under the filler tube.
