just had the timing belt on another car snap and ruin the engine,

so it got me realy thinking about putting some preventative care into my car.


how many miles before i should have the timing chains changed? im on 90,ooo right now. any other over look items that should be looked at?

Never seen a chain go south, the guides are a different story. Its usually well over 100k when I see then wore out and it will get noisy when they do.

yeah i have never seen a chain break,took a few worn out chain sets off of some small block chevys but they still ran fine.

just got me thinkin about protecting my pony.

Haha,seen your car for sale luke...niiicccceeee.

My throwout bearing is going bad and after the other car had engine damage got me thing about things maybe i overlooked just for peice of mind.any know problems that cone up on these? Im newer to these and just enjoy the heck out of this car

some things I've heard should be dealt with on 4v's

-imrc plates gunk up (delete them)
-timing chain guides wear, and will get the typical modular ford rattle on cold start ups for a couple seconds when they need replacing.
-oil cooler o-ring at the filter adapter wears out and leaks
-pcv pulls some oil into the intake tract over time, install a good separator kit
