Anyone running a 9" in their fox? Any pros or cons? It would be nice to have the ability to swap gears easily plus have the 9" ends.

The 9" is a fantastic rearend that will hold TONS of horsepower
The downside is its weight, ALOT heavier than the 8.8
Really depends on what you want to do with the car.
I have a 9" Currie in my 82 with detroit locker/Richmond gears

put 9 inch ends on your 8.8., 8.8 rear ends are very strong when welded and braced. people have run them into the 7's JMO The lower pic shows a southern outlaw brace by beer bottle for reference only lol

Ok Duncan that's about the dumbest shit I have heard . I have raced cars with 9 inch fords since the 80's and blown the shit out of them, cracked the housing.s broken 3rd members. If you are not buying the best 9 inch stuff on a decent HP car you are just throwing money away. Stock for stock 9 inch to 8.8, the 8.8 wins hands down..The only 9 inch stuff are the ends because I didn't want c clip eliminators.

You might want to show some class yourself and do a little research on what you post before posting ridiculas stuff like you did. That's a huge problem on this site people like your self coming in here and spouting off stuff that is grossly incorrect like it is gospel. I have set up bunches of rear ends for racing and in everyday work never had a failure from set up.

As far as for being rude you came in here stating a stock "9 inch"..out of what??? There are a bunch of different ones? a 57 Ford a 79 marquis? Are they all the same? Are the gray cases as strong as the N are the late 50's cases as strong as the early 70's cases. I know the answers to all of these questions, you posted your response to be cynical ass and you know it. Please post which "stock" Ford 9 inch rear end will hold a high 7 sec drag car please and show me a pic. because I can show you 8.8s that can.

Duncan live and learn, shut your mouth and you will learn. Don't get all butt hurt because I know my shit about rear ends and a ton of other stuff.I have been doing this stuff for almost 30 years some of it has to sink in. My 69 Mustang has a 57 nine inch housing N-case, 31 spline spool, Moser axles.I spiral cracked the housing running low 10's with it. the 8.8. I built should be strong enough to go well into the 8's...It would have cost a bunch just like DMI said to make the 9 inch strong enough to run that fast. There are also other reasons to run a 9 over a 8.8 in different apllications. I get into more trouble on here calling peoples BS and having them get butt hurt. Thanks God....lol

What axles are those with the screw-in studs?

I have Moser 9" ends and axles on my 8.8 and my studs are press-in.

Those are Strange racing axles 35 spline. I ordered them with the 5/8 stud kit so that's what those are. I still have to put the lock nuts on the back side of the stud. The rear end is narrowed 2 inches on each side.

I think the Parts I have in this are between 900 and a thousand. I had a friend who has a jig, weld the axles and narrow it and put on the 9 inch ends. Then I built it my self. I can see it costing you a couple of grand if you have to pay for everything.

I have a 90 Coupe with a 9inch rearend and a 88GT with a 8.8 with 9inch ends, I would say a 8.8 can easily made as strong as 9inch rearend, but a 9inch robs more HP to turn.
