I hoping soemone can verify this for me on their 87-93 fox: I have a stock 1987 5.0 and I failed smog because the check engine light did not illuminate when the key was turned to acc. on position. Can someone please tell me if their check engine light turns on when the key is in the acc. on position? Thank you.

Yes, it will turn on.
Have you converted to MAF?

I have not converted to mass air its still SD.
I know the bulb works because when I start the car the check engine light is on while the car cranks. What can I do?

I had the same problem on one of my stangs, you must find out if its a cali car, built in cali, if not what state, find out and if there smart smog people thell know what im saying, research it,

california cars all come stock from the factory with MAF sensors. if you have a SD. your car prolly came from nevada. hook a ODB1 reader to it and see if you get any issues

all `86's and `87's have SD, even california cars.
`88 was the first year of MAF in CA, `89 everywhere else.
to the OP, I'd try another smog shop first.

+1 they started MAF sensors in california cars in 88 and in any other state they started in 89

I took it back showed the guy it worked. Told him my check engine light does not turn when the key is in the acc on position but does work and he pased me. ![[Whoo Whooooo!]](graemlins/woowoo.gif)
