I need to replace the ac pressure switch on my 96 (located near firwall) but not sure how to proceed with doing this. The switch is connected to a pressure line, so I can't just unscrew it.
Do I need special tools? Will I loose my freon when replacing the switch?

you are supposed to get the system emptied first but just unscrew the switch and replace it. then recharge the system. big brother doesnt like freon released into the air. bad for the ozone

If you are talking about the switch in the upper left hand of this picture, then you shouldn't need to dump the r-134a.
The canister has an check valve... it should make a little hiss when you pop it off, but it shouldn't dump all the r-134a.

Ditto on that. I have replaced a couple in my time. It has a check valve. It will make a small hiss when first removed. Just unscrew and replace with the new one.
